The first day of the Training Camp is almost over and Soma meets Gin Doujima at the bathrooms. On the second day, Soma and Megumi are assigned to Koujirou Shinomiya's group, who is the toughest and more strict of the supervisors.
This episode provides examples of:
- Buxom Beauty Standard: Yuuki and Megumi point out Ryoko's big boobs. Even Ducky seems to agree.
- Evolving Credits: The rotating dish in the opening changed. For the ending "Spice", the foodgasm reaction is from Doujima.
- Female Gaze: We have an entire scene with Soma and Gin Doujima naked at the Public Bathroom. Additionally we have flashbacks of Gin remembering he also shared the bathroom with Isshiki (stretching together, mind you), and Takumi in a towel.
- Male Gaze:
- An additional scene is created, where the Polaris girls are enjoying their bath time.
- While Yuuki is gushing over the expensive room, she is moving her butt while snugging on the large bed.
- Mood Whiplash: The whole episode is one. The first half is the breather, where the guys are enjoying the bathrooms and hotel rooms, and Megumi regains confidence. The second half has a lot of tension at Koujirou Shinomiya's group, where Megumi is suddenly expelled and Soma challenges a Legendary Alumni to a Shokugeki.
- Morton's Fork: Koujirou sets up his assignment in the training camp such that it's impossible for everyone to pass. Produce a substandard dish because you are shoved away from the ingredients until only inferior ones are left? Fail for having a non-tasty dish. Change the recipe slightly to improve the taste to compensate for inferior ingredients? Fail, because changing the recipe isn't allowed, and therefore, forbidden (as opposed to most challenges being "anything not forbidden is allowed").
- Public Bathhouse Scene: The first half of the episode is this — Erina is getting out of the bathroom before she runs into Soma, Soma first meets Gin Doujima while he is stretching his muscles, then the new anime-scene has the Polar Star girls in the pool talking about Ryoko's boobs.
- The Reason You Suck: Soma does not hesitate to call out Shinomiya for expelling Megumi for reasons outside of her control.
- Tender Tears: Megumi tries to contain her tears with a sad smile in an attempt to calm down Soma. It only makes Soma angrier and prompts him to challenge Koujirou into a Shokugeki.
- Wham Line:
- "You are expelled".
- "Does that rule apply to alumni too? Shokugeki. I want to challenge you."
