After Stewie gets bitten by a bat flying in the Griffin house, Lois and Peter take Stewie to Dr. Hartman, who notices that Stewie needs vaccinations...and after reading about how vaccines have dangerous chemicals and may cause autismnote , Lois decides to start an anti-vaxxer campaign.

Examples:

  • As Himself: Sean Penn, who saves Stewie and the entire town by bringing in Vaccines and cracks a joke about Rhode Island.
  • Call-Back: After Peter's revealed to have come down with measles, Meg reminds everyone how Peter's mother, Thelma, had revealed back in Padre de Familia (an early post-cancellation episode) that Peter was born in Mexico. However, Peter cuts her off by claiming no one remembers that.
  • Cult: A Cutaway Gag has Peter join one and only avoid mass suicide because he doesn't like root beer. Peter's narration implies he still believes in the cult leader.
  • From Bad to Worse: After Lois succeeds in her anti-vaccine campaign:
    • 1.) Stewie's entire preschool class comes down sick with the measles—and Stewie's teacher explains to him and his parents that citizens all over Quahog (and not just the kids at Stewie's preschool) are getting sick because, due to Peter and Lois's campaign, people have stopped getting themselves vaccinated.
    • 2.) The amount of people getting sick reaches the point of where it's considered an epidemic and the entire city of Quahog gets put under quarantine, which also means that no one's allowed to enter and/or leave the city.
    • 3.) As Brian gloats to Lois about ultimately being proven right and Lois has a change of heart, finally deciding to get Stewie vaccinated, Peter reveals that he destroyed the town's entire supply of vaccines.
    • 4.) After Peter admits to having destroyed the town's entire supply of vaccines, it turns that Peter himself has come down with the measles.
    • 5.) After Peter's revealed to have come down with measles, Meg points out that Peter might never have been vaccinated (like for anything at all and not just measles)—the rest of the family does everything they can to keep Peter and Stewie apart, as Peter could get Stewie really sick.
    • 6.) Stewie ends up getting out of the house during the epidemic (in an attempt to get to the next town over so he can get vaccinated), worrying his family (particularly Lois and Brian, who head out to look for him).
  • Halfway Plot Switch: It goes from Peter trying to get rid of a bat in the house to Lois making an anti-vaxxer campaign.
  • Injection Plot: Lois decides not to vaccinate Stewie upon learning that it may cause autism, and she encourages the rest of Quahog to do the same. Though she succeeds, it ends up having great consequences—there ends up being a major outbreak of measles in Quahog and it gets to the point where it's considered an epidemic, and law enforcement decide that, until further notice, no one's allowed to enter or leave the city.
  • Punny Name: Peter nicknames the bat that got into the house "Bat Damon".
  • Shout-Out: Peter wears face make-up similar to Heath Ledger’s portrayal of The Joker in The Dark Knight and even references the scene where he blows up a hospital.
    • For bonus points of that scene as a meta-joke, he states he scheduled himself to overdose in his apartment, which is sadly how Heath Ledger died.
    • Mixed with CallBack and Biting-the-Hand Humor: Much like Peter telling the audience that "Not All Dogs Go to Heaven" is going to be a "Meg" episode and to change the channel, Stewie tells the audience that this episode is going to focus on Lois and to switch over to Game of Thrones.
  • Teeny Weenie: One Cutaway Gag has Peter getting penis enlargement surgery. He asks for them to make his penis hang down to his knees, then it cuts to him walking out with considerably shorter legs.
  • Terrified of Germs: After realizing that being unvaccinated makes him more susceptible to disease, Stewie becomes this. This results in Stewie wearing a surgical mask everywhere, putting a piece of paper wherever he sits to prevent him from getting germs from the seat, forcing Brian to wear shoes so he doesn't track germs into the house, and wrapping Chris in plastic wrap to prevent him from touching anything.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: After Sean Penn rescues Stewie and delivers vaccines to Quahog, Lois's response is less than enthusiastic.
