Gyro makes contact with aliens, which excites him, and the aliens want to buy all of Scrooge's grain, which excites Scrooge. But then Scrooge, the nephews and Webby are shrunk by the aliens' ray.
This episode contains examples of the following tropes:
- Bait-and-Switch: At the end, when Scrooge sees Twitchie through his magnifying glass, he raises his arm as though he's going to squish him. Instead of doing so, however, Scrooge gives the ant a sugarcube to eat.
- Chekhov's Gunman: Twitchie, the ant that Webby was searching for, ends up being helpful to the miniaturized ducks.
- Damsel in Distress: Webby gets caught in a spider's web and the others have to save her.
- Eaten Alive: Scrooge falls into Gyro's glass of water and is nearly drunk.
- First Contact: Gyro makes contact with aliens and spends a lot of time being excited about getting to meet beings from another planet. He even writes a speech. The first contact goes well enough as a business transaction, but Gyro never does get time with the aliens before they leave the planet.
- Giant Spider: It's an ordinary spider, but given that they're shrunk, it's the same thing.
- Halfway Plot Switch: The episode begins with Scrooge having a problem with excess grain he can't get rid of. After the aliens arrive and take the grain, the rest of the episode shifts to Scrooge and the others being shrunk.
- Hidden Depths: Webby performs CPR on Scrooge after he nearly drowns on the sewer.
- Humanoid Alien: The alien ducks look almost exactly like Earth ducks.
- Incredible Shrinking Man: Scrooge attempts to use the alien ducks' ray to make his gold bigger, but it ends up shrinking him and the kids instead. Initially he thought it actually did make his gold bigger.
- Shrink Ray: The aliens' Molecular Manipulator is capable of making things grow and shrink.
- You Dirty Rat!: A pair of scary rats threaten Scrooge and the kids after they fall on the sewer.
