"Squirrel Seats" contains examples of:

  • Birds of a Feather: This episode reveals Gretchen has a crush on Edward, who is very similar to her in terms of personality.
  • Brick Joke: At the beginning of the episode, Jane Doe and Lumpus get left behind on the rest stop. The end of the episode shows that they're still stuck there, trying to hitch a ride back to Prickly Pines.
  • Description Cut:
Slinkman: Now now, try to contain yourselves, scouts, I know we're all excited.
[Cut to Chip and Skip sleeping in the back of the bus]
  • Drives Like Crazy: Slinkman, blinded by rage, drives the bus like a maniac after the geyser fails to impress him.
  • Faux Horrific: Everyone on the bus screams in terror when Lazlo agrees to sit next to Patsy.
  • Girls Have Cooties: Raj suggests Lazlo might get cooties from sitting next to Patsy. He's unbothered.
  • Girls vs. Boys Plot: Mostly one-sided on the part of the Squirrel Scouts, but the Bean Scouts think that the Squirrel Scouts should stay on their own side of the bus.
Raj: You can't sit next to Patsy! There, I said it.
    Lazlo: Why not, Raj?
Raj: Because Lazlo, Patsy's a girl, and boys and girls shouldn't sit together on the bus.
  • Gratuitous French: Clam says a sentence in French at one point.
  • Hitchhiker's Leg: Jane suggests Lumpus should do this so they can hitch a ride back.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Edward goes to sit on the bus, only for his seat to be taken by Dave and Ping Pong, who insist they were there the whole time. They hadn't been seen at all before this point.
  • Not So Above It All: Slinkman (who is the Only Sane Man most of the time) gets irrationally and uncharacteristically angry after the trip to Old Geezer Geyser doesn't turn out to be as impressive as the plaque claimed it was.
  • Old Faithful: The scouts go on a trip to Old Geezer Geyser to see it erupt.
  • Something We Forgot: The beginning of the episode has Slinkman accidentally leaving Lumpus and Jane behind at a rest stop.

"Creepy Crawly Campy" contains examples of:

  • And Then I Said: Right before Raj pulls up to Camp Kidney in a car made of bugs, Edward is seen finishing a story.
Edward: ...So that's why I won't play croquet anymore.
  • Bee Afraid: After Raj's influence brings hundreds of bugs into the camp, Lazlo and Clam get stung by bees. Clam gets stung by a bee that is roughly the size of the Dungs.
  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: Elebug's final form not only terrifies the rest of the Bean Scouts, but is capable of snatching up Lumpus and carrying him away.
  • Description Cut:
Lazlo: Saying bugs are repulsive is like saying that Scoutmaster Lumpus is repulsive.
[Cut to Lumpus dipping a sandwich into his bathwater and eating it]
  • Friend to Bugs: Raj becomes one in this episode.
  • Furry Confusion: Chip and Skip hate bugs despite being dung beetles, something Raj draws attention to.
  • Idea Bulb: Clam digs one out of his broccoli costume when Lazlo gets an idea of how to cure Raj of his entomophobia.
  • Insistent Terminology: Chip and Skip aren't bugs, they're vermin.
  • Mass "Oh, Crap!": The campers' reaction to Elebug hatching into her final form.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: The campers give one to Raj after he infested the camp with bugs.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: Elebug, at least before she cocoons.
