Red Hoods is a forum roleplay hosted on the Roleplayer Guild website, and run by user Red VII.

The first installment, The Red Hoods: Initiates , follows a group of new recruits to the Red Hoods, an organisation charged with hunting down and killing vampires, zombies, and other things that go bump in the night.

Red Hoods: Initiates provides examples of:

  • The Ageless: Vampires in this universe do not age, and can only be killed by beheading, destroying the heart, or burning.
  • Badass Normal: The Red Hoods is made up mostly of ordinary humans, yet they take on primarily supernatural enemies. As such, expect most of their human members to be this.
  • Boxed Crook: Members of the Red Hoods sentenced to join are this - having been given the choice between joining up or dying.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Lockseley dies by being simultaneously burned and crushed to death by the trial beast after Kiri sets it on fire.
  • Cross-Cultural Handshake: Nick and Loona share one early on, involving the tiny fairy covering his finger in fairy dust.
  • Eye Scream: The trial beast is dealt with when Nick shoots it in the eye
  • Fantasy Pantheon: Eliza and Brighid both worship 'The Goddess', as do the Witwing clan. Word of God states that there are other deities, but they have yet to make an appearance.
  • Our Werewolves Are Different: Mostly conforming to traditional werewolf lore, with a side serving of full-moon horniness
  • Who You Gonna Call??: The Red Hoods are an organisation charged with taking care of the various supernatural threats that roam Tenebris. They take care of supernatural nasties the people face, for a price, of course.
  • Fantastic Slurs: 'Vamp', 'Leech', and 'Bloodsucker' have all been used in-universe to refer to vampires.
  • Language of Magic: Spells can be cast using specific words, primarily seen with Brighid thus far, like Lohta - an unlocking spell
  • Failure-to-Save Murder: Discussed with Locksley's death, as Colin blames Kiri for striking the final blow on the trial beast, which inadvertently took Locksley out with it, trying to scapegoat her for it.
Colin: I guess you’ve only drunk animal blood, right? You’re not like them – the ones in the mountains that terrorise the villages, drink off humans like we’re meals that just happen to have bloody legs, but you’re not fucking special. You might have some of your humanity left right now, or at least you seem to think you do – but the second the chips are down? You’ll turn some other poor sod just like the leech that turned you.
