The first episode of a new season. The ruleset is now more casual, with items, stage hazards, and stage morph on, and there are many new fighters you haven't seen before.

The episode is here.

Tropes

  • Assist Character: The addition of items means these (in the forms of assist trophies and pokéball pokémon) are now a major factor in gameplay.
  • Cool, but Stupid: At one point during the Falco vs. Villager match, Villager drops a bowling ball on Falco from several platforms above. Rather than simply moving out of the way, Falco parries the ball. And then when Villager drops a second bowling ball immediately after, Falco parries it again.
Alpha: [Falco parries a bowling ball] Why?
Alpha and Jo: [Falco parries the second one] Why?!
Alpha: Why just not move out of the way?
    Jo: Or reflect it?
Alpha: Yeah! You could've won if you'd, reflected it, honestly!
  • Harmless Villain: ToyConvict is the CPUCS's first real villain, but he's taken out fairly easily.
  • Heel:
    • The commentators explicitly reference this when talking about Wario's reaction to an arguably undeserved win against Cloud.
    • This trope applies much more directly to ToyConvict, who is the first explicitly evil fighter the CPUCS has yet seen.note
  • He's Back!: Downplayed In Thug Finals, as it mostly establishes that SS|Kirby wasn't gone to begin with, just out of his element. SS|Kirby did not get off to a great start in the new ruleset, but come a more competitive ruleset in Thug Finals and his Signature insane Rock tricks...
Alpha: This is the Kirby we know.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Sans was very prominent in part of the intro, seven months before the funny skeleton man himself got added to Ultimate as a Mii costume.
  • Product Placement: Kirby is now sponsored by Skillshare, which sponsors the AlpharadTV channel.
  • Punny Name: Skillshare|Kirby can force his opponents to share their skills with him via his Inhale ability.
  • Shout-Out: The episode now has an intro set to "Cruel Angel's Thesis" from Neon Genesis Evangelion.
  • Tempting Fate: Discussed in Falco vs. Lucario.
Jo: Falco is showing his dominance in this new meta.
Alpha: Oh, Jo! I think oneof is is finally gonna predict a right character winning.
Jo: Don't say that! Now Lucario's gonna win!
