- Assist Character: The addition of items means these (in the forms of assist trophies and pokéball pokémon) are now a major factor in gameplay.
- Cool, but Stupid: At one point during the Falco vs. Villager match, Villager drops a bowling ball on Falco from several platforms above. Rather than simply moving out of the way, Falco parries the ball. And then when Villager drops a second bowling ball immediately after, Falco parries it again.Alpha: [Falco parries a bowling ball] Why?Alpha and Jo: [Falco parries the second one] Why?!Alpha: Why just not move out of the way?Jo: Or reflect it?Alpha: Yeah! - Harmless Villain: ToyConvict is the CPUCS's first real villain, but he's taken out fairly easily.
