Jon goes to Chevlot, Ohio to help out The Black Sheep; an Irish pub struggling due to a lack of leadership and an owner trying to find funding through different means.
Episode Tropes:
- Did Not Think This Through: In order to get more funds to support the bar, Scott ended up taking loans from credit card companies. Unfortunately, that adds more debt than ever (due to credit cards having high-interest rates for unpaid charges). Jon lampshades how terrible an idea that was.
- Earn Your Happy Ending: By the beginning of next season, Scott already has five of his high-interest loans paid off, and, as of October 2023, the business is still open.
- Hope Spot: Since Scott is too busy to manage the place, Jon Taffer comes up with the idea to have all three owners co-manage. The Stress Test ends up showing the other two owners are not cut out for management.
- Know When to Fold Them: Seeing how poorly the Stress Test was going, Jon called it quits and flew a white flag.
- Product Placement: Guinness is mentioned a lot in this episode, and even a few of the staff go to the Guinness brewery in Ireland.
- Take a Third Option: Scott and his family know that there must be managers at the bar to properly organize the business. However, they cannot afford to hire someone nor do they have the time or patience to be in the building and lead the team. So they make a decision Jon agrees with: promote a few of the staff into management positions.
