Recap / Asura's Wrath E16 "Power Struggle"

Go To

Asura and Yasha confront Deus.

Tropes:

  • Bash Brothers: Just as Asura demands that Deus tell him where Mithra is, Yasha kicks him in the face and declares that since he was there first, he gets to fight Deus, picking up their rivalry now that they are no longer enemies.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Just as Deus Flash Steps behind Asura, Yasha appears and does a Shoot the Hostage through Asura's stomach, Asura managing to take the hit through what is a non-vulnerable area while Deus receives the attack right in his face.
  • Flash Step: Deus is so quick, he briefly appears behind Asura as he tries to hit him.
  • Floating Continent: It is here that it is revealed that Shinto is a floating city.
  • Fusion Dance: Just as Asura gets the upper-hand, Deus beams up to the Karma Fortress and merges with it, increasing its anatomical mass and becoming Sakra Devanam Indra Deus.
  • Jerkass to One: While Asura hates all of the Seven Deities, just seeing Deus causes one of the arms from his Berserker-form to manifest.
  • Morality Chain: Just as Asura is about to go Berserk again, the thought of Mithra reigns his rage in.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: While Deus monologues about The Great Rebirth and the cause, Asura has the option to interrupt with a punch, all three fists connecting and flinging Deus into the wall above his throne.
  • Skewed Priorities: With Deus right there, Yasha and Asura quickly devolve into an argument over who gets to fight them like old rivals. While Asura is more interested in getting his daughter back, he is also ready to fight Yasha for getting in his way.

Deus

The leader of the Seven Deities. A Demigod who once was the Commander of the Eight Guardian Generals. After betraying Emperor Strada and framing Asura for his death, Deus took the rest of the generals and formed the Seven Deities. They rule over Shinkoku Trastrium as self-proclaimed gods. Deus takes much pride in being the "protector" of the world, and believes that his actions are righteous. He has a brash way of speaking, though since he has absolute confidence in his abilities, it does not come across as offensive or unpleasant.
