Airdate: April 18, 2010

Roger winds up kissing Francine when the two go wine-tasting, leading Francine having to tell Stan so it's not bad if they told soon, but Roger tries everything to keep Francine from telling Stan. Meanwhile, Klaus and Hayley screw with Steve's head by making him think his reality is a lucid dream, but he goes too far when he tries to fly out the window.

This episode includes examples of:

  • Both Sides Have a Point: Francine is right that being honest with Stan about her and Roger's Accidental Kiss would be the best long term, but Roger's fears of Stan completely revoking their friendship in spite of it being a drunken mistake aren't completely unfounded considering how he usually acts.
  • Buried Alive: Roger resorts to doing this to Francine to prevent her from telling Stan about their kiss. He then does the same to Stan at the end.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Roger's go-to way of getting people to calm down this episode is to bury them alive. Not only would this make them even angrier at him than before, but trying to do the same to Stan was an especially big mistake; in fact, it's harder to tell if Stan is even angry about the kiss by that point, because being buried is certainly a greater reason for one's wrath.
  • Dream Weaver: Steve has trained himself to lucid dream (control everything that happens in his dreams). After pissing off Klaus and Hayley, they get payback by making him think he's dreaming when he's not.
  • Fake-Out Fade-Out: The episode seemingly ends with Roger burying Stan alive. In then cuts to a "Next Time On American Dad", which is in fact just the proper epilogue to the story (Stan escapes and beats the crap out of Roger, using their necklace to make ear rings for Francine).
  • Honor Before Reason: Francine wants to tell Stan about the completely accidental kiss, despite the fact a swear to secrecy could be easily held, and considering only Roger would actually get in trouble for this legitimate mistake, Francine would essentially be tattling on him.
  • Idiot Ball: Stan takes Roger's lies about Francine kissing him at face value, despite knowing Roger's penchant for schemining and lying.
  • It's All About Me: Even when Stan laments how the kids will be affected by the divorce, Roger only decides to come clean after realizing he will lose his attic.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Roger says that Francine doesn't really owe Stan that much honesty; after all, he keeps secrets from her all the time, like his figure-skating past which has made him leave her alone for many winters.
  • Kissing Under the Influence: Roger does this to Francine during the wine tasting. He then goes to extremes to keep Stan from finding out.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Stan and Roger both act pretty unreasonable throughout the episode and pay for it in certain ways;
    • Roger goes to extremes to try and keep the secret, including the aforementioned burying and later attempt to frame Francine. When he learns it will cost him his home, he also buries Stan, only for the irate man to dig his way free and pummel Roger, revoking their friendship.
    • Stan doesn't even consider Francine's side over Roger's, and when he moans about how this will upset everyone's lives, including Roger's, Roger buries him, giving him a taste of what Francine went through and showing Stan that Roger isn't the friend he thinks he is.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Roger eventually resorts to telling Stan himself about the drunken kiss, but does so in a way that makes the entire thing Francine's fault alone and claims she repeatedly tried to stop him from coming clean.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Stan viciously beats Roger in the ending, after burying him alive and pinning the blame on Francine.
  • Unwilling Suspension: At a hot air balloon festival, Francine is about to confide to Stan on what happened when Roger ties a balloon's tow rope to her foot, causing her to get hoisted up with the balloon as it takes off.
  • With Friends Like These...: Roger lies to Stan and nearly causes the collapse of his marriage just to keep Stan's friendship. Stan turns this around on Roger by bemoaning that selling the house during the divorce will also cost Roger his attic and place to live, implying he wasn't planning to support Roger throughout and after the separation.
