"The dapper dead strut the streets of modern Cairo in Armani suits. There are levels of panache the breathing never achieve. In the deep shade, they tickle the strings — kingpins of Egypt's criminal underbelly. Hidden, fearless, outside the bounds of any faction — no rules save what they create. Their chests are hollow, but their ribcages pound with lust and debauchery. These embalmed princes pursue the one sanctity left in this world: money. They are the Kingdom."
The Buzzing, The Secret World

"The dead do not squabble as this land's rulers do. The dead do not fight one another. The dead have no desires, no petty jealousies or ambitions. A world of the dead is a world at peace..."
Nagash, Warhammer

Like time itself, the living are not welcome in Nehekhara. For this is the land of the dead, ruled by the Tomb Kings, where only the expired may serve.

The Prince now rules over the living and the dead and both live in strange harmony. The black-robbed nomads patrol the deserts, warning Prince Tutankhanut of any intruders to his realm. In return, the nomads are allowed to live in the city under the protection of soldiers who do not sleep — though why any would feel safety when their lives are guarded by those who are dead is beyond me.
Warhammer: Tomb Kings Army Book (6th edition)

"Haldric, we are an ancient people who lived in a land filled with all manner of man and beast. We needed vision that extended beyond the meager span of human years. The art of necromancy allowed our best and brightest to live forever, and our worst got to serve as mindless slaves."
Lady Outlaw, Battle for Wesnoth: The Rise of Wesnoth
