Ever since the iconic battle between RED and AJDNNW on top of Mt. Silver, battles against player characters from previous runs have become a tradition of Twitch Plays Pokémon.

  • Twitch Plays Pokémon Crystal: The final battle against Red on top of Mt. Silver was edited so that Red used the same team that was entered into the Hall of Fame in Twitch Plays Pokémon Red, with their levels buffed to match the original Red battle but movesets identical to those of the Red run. Lore-wise, this cemented Crystal as a tale of "Godslayers", with the defeat of Red being perceived as the fall of the previously deified Lord Helix.

  • Twitch Plays Pokémon HeartGold: Once again, Red had his team replaced with the endgame team from Twitch Plays Pokémon FireRed. His sprite was also replaced with Leaf's sprite, although his in-game name remained "Red" rather than "A" or "Alice". While the team's movesets were globally identical to what they were in FireRed, the modder who hacked the team in did make one change, by replacing Sandslash's Flamethrower with Sacred Fire.

  • Twitch Plays Pokémon Black 2: An unexpected surprise awaited the Voices when all seven previous protagonists were present at the Pokémon World Tournament, and had to be defeated one after the other, starting with GMYC, then followed by aoooo, nqpppnl, A, A, and AJDNNW, until finally facing RED once more.

  • Twitch Plays Pokémon Red Anniversary: By looking under his bed in Pallet Town after defeating the Elite 4, AIIIAAB was transported to a mysterious location where RED was encountered once again, with the game introducing him as "DREAM RED". The battle against him came with an awesome-looking intro transition, and a recreation of the iconic Champion theme from Pokémon Gold and Silver.

  • Twitch Plays Pokémon Crystal Anniversary: Crystal Anniversary one-upped its predecessor by featuring four different protagonists able to be battled in some way or another: AIIIAAB, who as expected replaces Red on the top of Mt. Silver, AJDNNW, who appears in the Trainer House (which actually makes perfect sense since the canon function of that building is to battle other Gen II players' teams), RED, who unexpectedly appeared at the entrance of Mt. Silver, and BABA, who took over the "Dream" role of RED from Red Anniversary.

  • Twitch Plays Pokémon White 2: The Pokémon World Tournament was modified to include four different TPP-themed tournaments, each featuring Hosts from previous runs:

  • Twitch Plays Pokémon Waning Moon: Red and Blue, who are encountered in front of the Battle Tree, respectively had their teams replaced with RED's team from Red and AIIIAAB's team from Red Anniversary respectively. RED's Pidgeot and AIIIAAB's Slowbro were both given the ability to Mega-Evolve, and d76o6yttr?? initially lost to the latter before defeating the former.

  • Twitch Plays Pokémon Theta Emerald EX: In an unintentional example, AHUNIgg made a quick cameo when a Blazed Glazed savestate was mistakenly loaded after a game crash on Day 1.

  • Twitch Plays Pokémon Pyrite: Notably averted; the battle on top of Mt. Silver was not against a previous Host, but instead against Azure, the rival from Crystal Anniversary, with a brand new team composed of Snorlax, Lapras, Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Mew.

  • Twitch Plays Pokémon Storm Silver: As usual, a secret opponent from a previous run awaited AAEFFFF on top Mt. Silver; in this case, he got to face off against aoooo from Twitch Plays Pokémon HeartGold. Her team members were completely faithful to their original appearance, down to their randomized abilities.

  • Twitch Plays Pokémon Bronze: The original Pokémon Bronze hack featured a battle against Red in Cerulean Cave. During the run, it was replaced with a battle against AJDNNW from Twitch Plays Pokémon Crystal, using his team from the Season 3 revisit. Amusingly, this caused Red's cameo in Pallet Town to become a case of Fauxshadowing.

  • Twitch Plays Pokémon Fused Crystal: Once again, a TPP character awaited on top of Mt. Silver: Larry from Twitch Plays Pokémon Bootleg Green. Each Pokémon from the original run was replaced with the fusion that used it as its based species, including the two "invisible" glitch Pokémon that were treated respectively as a Doduo and a Charizard, thus resulting in a team composed of MOM the Mewmew, WEEB the Vapordoom, SUNRA the Jolteckle, GG the Flarelax, CUCKO the Dodagby, and a nameless Charazam.

  • Twitch Plays Pokémon Burning Red: During the postgame-focused revisit that occurred two and a half weeks after the run, Cyan, the Host of Twitch Plays Pokémon Prism, was found in the secret "glitched" area of 00LD33..n, which was fittingly enough the same are in which Phancero had been found and caught during the run itself. She used her Hall of Fame team from Prism, including her own Phancero, and served as the endgame condition of the revisit.

  • Twitch Plays Pokémon Randomized Colosseum: Fein, a Cipher Peon who in the original game impersonates the protagonist to tarnish his reputation, had his team replaced with AAAAAAA's team from the original Twitch Plays Pokémon Colosseum, including a snaggable Shadow Misdreavus.

  • Twitch Plays Pokémon Randomized Ultra Moon:
    • Because the same SD card that was used during Twitch Plays Pokémon Ultra Sun was left in the console used for RUM, the chat was able to watch some of Rrwq:'s Battle Videos.
    • Red and Blue had their teams changed to match those of the Hosts of Twitch Plays Pokémon Dual Red & Blue. Blue also used Lana's model in order to better match the appearance of XXWWNNᴾk, although this ended up being unseen in the run proper as only ((( was fought, using his first Hall of Fame team. Their team's respective Venusaur and Charizard were also able to Mega-Evolve, similar to Red's Pidgeot and AIIIAAB's Slowbro in Waning Moon.

  • Twitch Plays Pokémon: The Gauntlet:
    • The Trainer House of Gauntlet Crystal featured multiple Trainers from previous runs, which changed every time it was entered. Trainers faced were KAY from Burning Red (although due to a few programming oversights, he initially only used three Pokémon instead of six, then used Lance's team instead of his own), ((( from Dual Red & Blue (who used both his team and XXWWNNᴾk's team), AJDNNW from Crystal, EVAN from Crystal Anniversary, and RED from Gauntlet Red.
    • The battle on top of Mt. Silver in Gauntlet Crystal had Dᴾk successively face both RED from Gauntlet Red and RED from the original Red, although the levels of their respective teams were buffed to match the ones from the original game.
    • The Pokémon World Tournament in Gauntlet Black 2 featured four battles in a row against RED from Gauntlet Red, Dᴾk from Gauntlet Crystal, n from Gauntlet Emerald, and .iecbw from Gauntlet Platinum. All of their Pokémon were boosted to Lv. 100, and losing to one of them meant having to start over from the first battle.
    • After beating the four hosts from The Gauntlet, the original PWT from Twitch Plays Pokémon Black 2 was unlocked, once again featuring GMYC from Black, aoooo from HeartGold, nqpppnl from Platinum, A from FireRed, A from Emerald, AJDNNW from Crystal, and RED from Red. Unlike the Hosts from The Gauntlet, their Pokémon were not boosted to Lv. 100, but were still 3 levels higher than they were in the original Black 2 thanks to Challenge Mode being active.
    • During the Elite 4 rematch in Gauntlet X, each member had a team from on of the previous runs of The Gauntlet. Wikstrom had the team from Gauntlet Red, Siebold had the one from Gauntlet Crystal, Malva used the one from Gauntlet Emerald, Drasna got the one from Gauntlet Platinum, and finally Diantha used the Gauntlet Black 2 team.
    • After wifi was activated for Gauntlet X, some people challenged Etr using the save data from previous runs. This allowed her to battle against ♀266 from Randomized Y, a user using an exact copy of the .iecbw's team Gauntlet Platinum, and the same user later using an exact copy of d's team from Twitch Plays Pokémon X.

  • Twitch Plays Pokémon Vega: The fight against Gordon on Ice Island was replaced by a fight against BBCBBHH from the Pokémon Sirius run, using his first Hall of Fame team. Due to an oversight however, the external script that was meant to replace his in-game team wasn't running, which led him to open the battle with a Nidoking, then to send a Nostratos, two Pokémon he never actually used. The script was restarted, which led to Nostratos turning back into the intended Breloom (although still knowing Nostratos moveset).
    • There was also a fight intended against BBCBBHH using his rematch team, with Groudon either replaced by Manaphy or manually re-inserted into the game (since it is present in Sirius, but not in Vega). However, the Voices never actually bothered to battle him a second time, leaving his revamped team as The Unfought.

  • Twitch Plays Pokémon Chatty Crystal: No less than 36 different previous characters appeared during the course of the run, most of them taking the place of major NPCs from the original game.
    • EVAN from Crystal Anniversary was the first of KKKB's rivals, using the Grass-type starter Bulbasaur, and was fought in Cherrygrove City, on Route 42, on the Ice Path, inside the Pokémon Tower, and at the Indigo Plateau.
    • BABA from Vietnamese Crystal was the second rival, using the Fire-type starter Cyndaquil, and was fought inside Sprout Tower, the Burned Tower, the Rocket Hideout, and Mt. Moon.
    • AJDNNW from Crystal was the third rival, using the Water-type starter Totodile, and was fought in Azalea City, inside the Radio Tower, in Olivine City, and on Victory Road.
    • ×ᴹɴ(? from Chatty Yellow took over the role of Eusine from the original game, and was therefore met and battled inside the Burned Tower, Cianwood City, the Tin Tower Barrier Station, and the Celadon Pokémon Center.
    • Sage Li, the NPC battled on top of Sprout Tower in the base games, was replaced by ♀♀R from Gauntlet Black 2.
    • The Johto Gym Leaders were respectively replaced with !12rtyhaszs from Omega Ruby in Violet City, AHUNIgg from Blazed Glazed in Azalea City, A from Fire Red in Goldenrod City, aoooo from HeartGold in Ecruteak City, AIIIAAB from Red Anniversary in Olivine City, 9'l from Sun in Cianwood City, Y from Fused Crystal in Mahogany Town, and AAAALK' from Randomized White 2 in Blackthorn City.
    • The Kanto Gym Leaders were respectively replaced with RED from Red in Vermilion City, STARS from XG in Saffron City, URF from Lightning Sapphire in Celadon City, nqpppnl from Platinum in Fuchsia City , dᴾₖ from Gauntlet Crystal in Cerulean City, AAEFFFF from Storm Silver in Cinnabar Island, EWWYPPP from Pyrite in Pewter City, and ébneert from Rising Ruby in Viridian City.
    • Within the ranks of Team Rocket were F48 from TriHard Emerald, fought inside the Slowpoke Well, the Rocket Hideout, and the Radio Tower, LARRY from Bootleg Green, fought inside the Rocket Hideout, the Radio Tower, and the Abandoned Rocket Hideout, AAAAAAA from Colosseum, fought inside the Radio Tower and on Route 24, and ACCC from Randomized Colosseum, fought inside the Radio Tower.
    • Inside the Abandoned Rocket Hideout, KKKB stumbled upon GMMTMT, the titular Wooper from The Wooper Who Saved Christmas, which was played as a 2020 Christmas intermission, and battled against it.
    • The Elite 4 was composed of Etr from Gauntlet X, a rematch against ♀♀R from Gauntlet Black 2, Paul from Brown, and A from Emerald, while the Champion was Cyan from Prism.
    • The Silver Cave featured no less than 11 opponents in a row, 8 of them being the playable characters from the first run of each season: RED from Red, AIIIAAB from Red Anniversary, EVAN from Crystal Anniversary, ×ᴹɴ(? from Chatty Yellow, ((( from Dual Red and XXWWNNᴾₖ from Dual Blue (fought together one after the other), KAY from Burning Red, and RED from Gauntlet Red.
    • Checking the bed in Pallet Town after obtaining the Diploma transported KKKB to Hoenn's Seafloor Cavern, at the bottom of which resided the final opponent of the run: MARINA from Metronome Sapphire, who challenged KKKB to a battle in which both sides were only allowed to use the move Metronome.

  • Twitch Plays Pokémon Renegade Platinum: The final boss of the run, who awaited Kr alongside the various Gym Leaders and unique Trainers of Sinnoh in the Battleground, was .iecbw from Gauntlet Platinum, using her final team of Torterra, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Arceus, and Lumineon. invoked

  • Twitch Plays Pokémon Randomized Black 2:
    • The Pokémon Champion during the initial Pokémon League challenge was a Double Battle against ♂♂♂' from Randomized Black, using her team from her own initial Hall of Fame.
    • The Elite 4 during the Pokémon League rematch was composed of a Double Battle against ♂♂♂' from Randomized Black (this time using her rematch team), a Simple battle against AAAALK' from Randomized White 2, a Simple Battle against ♀♀R from Gauntlet Black 2, and a Double Battle against W ☹☹'' herself (using her initial Hall of Fame team).

  • Twitch Plays Pokémon Randomized Chatty Crystal: All of the characters that appeared in the original Chatty Crystal are still present and occupying the same roles, but the Pokémon on their teams have now been randomly shuffled around. However, some new faces still showed up:

  • Twitch Plays Pokémon Volt White 2 Redux:
    • The Memory Link feature was enabled for the run, unlocking flashbacks that mentionned AAQ, the protagonist of Twitch Plays Pokémon Volt White, by name. She was also mentionned by a few NPCs, notably the one handing over the Prop Case.
    • The four PWT tournaments featuring previous Hosts returned from Randomized White 2, along with a brand new one titled "The Four Heavenly Kings" and featuring Stars, AAEFFFF, Kr , and U!!!?.
    • The battles against previous player characters from Volt White 2 Redux were themselves swapped for battles against previous Hosts: Hilda was successively replaced with AAQ, ♂♂♂', .iecbw and n, Hilbert with ♀♀R, W ☹☹'' and AAAALK', and Red with KAY and RED.

  • Twitch Plays Pokémon Wilting Y:
    • Pictures of Gg113ktyhh4w that were taken during Twitch Plays Pokémon Star briefly showed up while browsing SD card photos early on Day 7.
    • In-between attempts to defeat the Pokémon League in Insanity Mode, characters from previous TPP runs were added to lthjittyy55o's Friend List, allowing the Voices to battle against them (controlled by the Streamer).
      • Etr from Gauntlet X used a team composed of Togekiss, Clefable, and Snorlax, all three being Pokémon that were traded to her near the end of that run and only knew the move Metronome.
      • The first battle against ébneert from Rising Ruby had his main party banned due to featuring Diancie's Mega-Evolution (which does not exist in Pokémon Y), and thus instead used Pokémon from his Battle Box, leading with AZZ TTTXXSSS (Lilligant). Said battle was forfeited, and the Streamer fixed the issue, leading to a second Rotation Battle in which ébneert instead used Lg★ᶻᴢᶻᴢᶻᴢᶻᴢᶻᴢᶻᴢ (Cradily), fish (Kingdra), CEO’’(+ ~##~ (Excadrill), ♥ (Diancie), noob (Dunsparce), and Ditto.
      • Subverted with !!!0999 qq from Alpha Sapphire, which like ébneert had her party banned due to her Rayquaza knowing Dragon Ascent, a move that also did not exist in Pokémon Y. The game still refused to allow the battle to happen even after Rayquaza was deposited, leading to it not actually happening.

  • Twitch Plays Pokémon Randomized SoulSilver: The final opponent of the run, awaiting on top of Mt. Silver, was the protagonist from Twitch Plays Pokémon Inverse Platinum, using his postgame team that swapped Medicham, Scyther and Lickilicky for Azelf, Zapdos and Porygon-Z.

  • Twitch Plays Pokemon Resolute: The existing battle against Red in the Silver Cave was changed to one against B, the Host from Victory Fire, who used his initial Hall of Fame team. Notably, his Golisopod, Wobbuffet, Victini and Mega-Banette all had to be added to the game specifically for this battle, as they do not normally exist in Resolute.

  • Twitch Plays Pokemon Mega Power:
    • As the Voices chose a male protagonist during the initial run, the Pokémon Resolute protagonist that appeared as an NPC throughout the game was the male one, Logan, rather than the female one that was played as during the Resolute run. The Ultra Mega Power revisit swapped the main character's gender, allowing OONAt, the Host from the Resolute run, to appear in place of Logan.
    • OONAt later served as the final battle of the second Ultra Mega Power revisit, fought inside the Trainer Castle. As several of the Pokémon she used in the original run do not actually exist in Mega Power, her team was not one she actually ever used during the Resolute run but rather a selection of Pokémon she used or even just caught at varying points it, specifically Mienshao, Eliza, Mega-Mawile, Rayquaza, Zygarde, and Keldeo.
OONAt: Hello, iii22MT. I've found my old Pokémon. Want to see my partners?

  • Twitch Plays Pokemon Nameless: The very end of the run featured three different Host Battles all located in Spiral Island, with teams based on the runs of the three previous parts of the tetralogy that Nameless serves as a conclusion to. As with OONAt in Ultra Mega Power, all three used teams composed of Pokémon that the Hosts have used or caught at varying point of the run rather than any actual team they used, in order to accommodate for the Pokémon that do exist in Nameless.
    • iii22MT from Mega Power, specifically the female counterpart from the Ultra Mega Power revisit, used a team made up of Joe (Mega-Abomasnow), FIVOOOVO (Mew), !!!!!!! (Suicune), GHKK (Mega-Houndoom), Raikou, and Mewtwo-F.
    • OONAt from Resolute, similarly to Mega Power, was actually present as an NPC all throughout Nameless, although she was not properly fought until CHRONYA challenged her in Spiral Island. Her team there was composed of GMM (Regigigas), Eliza, Meloetta, fep‘‘‘‘’/- (Mienshao), AMTT///KK (Mega-Mawile), and LANCELOT (Keldeo).
    • B from Victory Fire was a peculiar case as he himself did not actually appear, but Pure, an NPC based on the female player character from Victory Fire, did use a team made out of Pokémon from that run when challenged for the final time in Spiral Island. Specifically, her team consisted of ADeqkjjj (Mega-Banette), ,, v‘‘1YYY (Victini), o (Magnezone), AIOPo (Salazzle), AWWYYFO499 (Marshadow), and Mega-Charizard.

  • Twitch Plays Pokémon Inverse White: The Non-Inverse White revisit featured several appearances by previous protagonists:
    • One of the players encountered through online play was using the save file of AAQ from the Volt White run, allowing QZO to receive a Lileep from her during a trade, then battle her in a Triple Wonder Launcher Battle, before finally receiving her Staraptor in a second trade. She was later seen again on the Afghanistan floor of Unity Tower, where she inquired about how her Staraptor was doing.
    • The revisit briefly switched to Randomized SoulSilver, putting the Voices back in control of 11 CCvu just long enough to get her Celebi to forget Cut so that it could be transferred to Inverse White using the Relocator feature.
    • Using the Entralink's wireless connection features, QZO was able to cross into the world of the original Black run, in which he met GMYC to deliver special Pass Powers and items to him and battle against some of his Pokémon. Later on, GMYC joined QZO again through local wireless to partake in a multiplayer Musical and team up on the Battle Subway.

  • Twitch Plays Pokémon Inverse White 2:
    • Through the use of the Memory Link feature, the main character from the previous run was seen in multiple flashbacks throughout the run, as well as mentioned by some NPCs.
    • The five PWT tournaments featuring previous Hosts that were featured in Randomized White 2 and Volt White 2 Redux were once more made available, featuring the same selection of previous player characters. Later, a sixth one was added, titled the "Nameless Wind Tournament" and featuring B, OONAt, iii22MT, and CHRONYA.
    • After beating the game a first time, three different Host from previous runs could be found scattered around Unova as NPCs and challenged to a battle: . from Inverse Platinum as a Veteran in the Cave of Being, QZO from Inverse White as a regular Pokémon Trainer in Rumination Field, and Jd from Black & White 3: Genesis as an Ace Trainer inside Wellspring Cave. QZO was fought in a Double Battle, while the other two were faced in Single Battles.
    • Deep into the Nature Preserve, BOH LE encountered and battled against 44X N Y, the protagonist from Volt White 2 Redux.
    • In the last few days of the run, the members of the Pokémon League were replaced by the protagonists of Twitch Plays Pokémon: The Gauntlet: Grimsley by RED from Gauntlet Red, Marshall by dᴾk from Gauntlet Crystal, Shauntal by n from Gauntlet Emerald, Caitlin by .iecbw from Gauntlet Platinum, and Iris by ♀♀R from Gauntlet Black 2.
    • Inside the Game Freak office of Castelia City, ZZZZZZZ from the PokéSus2 intermission was present in lieu of Morimoto. Of course, his Pokémon used their regular sprites rather than the undistinguishable AMOGUS-themed ones from his game of origin; although his original Trainer sprite still appeared in the DexNav.
