Basic Trope: A girl whose personality is just as bright and optimistic as her pink hair.

  • Straight: Alice is a Nice Girl, is cheerful and is an All-Loving Hero and has pink hair.
  • Exaggerated: Pink hair on any girl means she's a saccharine invokedPurity Sue.
  • Downplayed:
  • Justified: Alice is actually a goddess who is either invokedLawful Good, Neutral Good, or Chaotic Good. Her pink hair is a sign/symbol of her benevolent divinity.
  • Inverted:
    • Alice has pink hair, but is a Shrinking Violet.
    • Alice has pink hair, but is a villain.
    • Alice has pink hair, but she's Short-tempered, violent, cold and is generally an Unpleasant person and disliked by her peers.
  • Subverted:
  • Double Subverted:
    • It turns out that Alice has No Social Skills, and she was really cranky that morning.
    • The audience is watching Alice's entrance from the perspective of a character who hates her, which is exaggerated for effect.
    • Alice comes across as cold and hostile, but in reality is a Broken Bird who is scared of making connections to anyone else for fear of being hurt again.
    • Her hair is dyed, and actually is pink.
  • Parodied: After dyeing her hair pink, Alice becomes a lot more cheerful.
  • Zig Zagged: Alice starts off as a Jerkass, but wants to be nicer so she dyes her hair pink to seem friendlier and cheerful, and it works! Except not really, because she was only pretending to want to be nicer so she can screw with people. However, she slowly becomes the mask and starts to like being nice. By the time she's grown into a Jerk with a Heart of Gold, her hair has grown back out to its normal color except for one streak she keeps dyed pink.
  • Averted: Alice's hair color is either any other odd color except pink or a completely realistic color.
  • Enforced: Alice is one of a series of clones. The genes that give them pink hair also strongly encourage them toward cheerful personalities, as intended by whoever originally engineered them.
  • Lampshaded: Bob wonders if Alice's sweet personality comes from the fact that her hair is pink.
Alice: "Bob, do you seriously believe that I would act any differently if my hair wasn't pink?"
Bob: "I can certainly see that to be a possibility."
  • Invoked: Alice dyes her hair pink to make sure everybody can see that she's nice and cheerful.
  • Exploited: Alice dyes her hair pink to trick everyone into thinking she's nice and cheerful, when in reality she's a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing.
  • Defied:
    • Alice has naturally pink hair. She's sick of people expecting her to be cheerful and sunny, so she dyes her hair brown.
    • Alice has naturally pink hair. She's sick of people expecting her to be cheerful and sunny, so she deliberately acts grumpy and sarcastic.
  • Discussed:
Alice: "He watches a lot of anime. I'll dye my hair pink so his first impression of me will be a nice, friendly girl."
  • Conversed: "Did you see that new series? The main character has pink hair so you know she's supposed to be nice."
