Basic Trope: A character's in-game health regenerates over time.

  • Straight: The Player Character's health regenerates if he is not attacked for a few seconds.
  • Exaggerated: You instantly heal back to 100% after 1 second of not being hit.
  • Downplayed:
  • Justified: Bob's Healing Factor also affects him in-game.
  • Inverted: Bob's health drains over time.
  • Subverted: Bob has another health bar that drains when his regular health regenerates. If it's empty, he can't regenerate.
  • Double Subverted: This second health bar can be replenished through a simple method, so it is difficult for Bob to get to the point where he no longer regenerates. It might as well be an inherent ability.
  • Parodied: Bob, a regular Mook, gets punctured with thousands of bullets and fully heals in a few seconds.
  • Zig Zagged: Bob repeatedly loses and regains his ability to regenerate.
  • Averted: Bob's health does not regenerate, and can only be gotten back by either health packs or not at all.
  • Enforced: Fearing that the game would be too difficult, the developers suggest adding a means of regaining health over time.
  • Lampshaded: ???
  • Invoked:
    • A soldier is issued a highly advanced/prototype/magical armor designed to heal him in the middle of battle.
    • Someone purchases a cybernetic implant designed to accelerate natural healing.
  • Exploited:
    • The heroes, after seeing Bob heal quickly despite the rest of their army going down in one shot, clone Bob to create a mass army of super soldiers.
    • A soldier who regenerates without needing to be healed can be send on missions without medical supplies, and, depending on his/her resiliency and regeneration rate, used as One Riot, One Ranger.
  • Defied: Bob goes out of his way to find things to slow down his regeneration because he believes it's unfair.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Deconstructed: The regeneration causes war to become even more brutal as a Coup de GrĂ¢ce becomes mandatory instead of a war crime. Wounded soldiers can just get back up. The cold blooded killing and being brought near death repeatedly causes everyone involved to become deeply traumatized.
