- The hero wears primary colors because they're also the colors of his national flag. (He may be from the Philippines, for example)
- The hero works for an organization with such a color scheme.
- The hero uses the cheapest quality dyes, which just happen to be blue and red, for his costume.

- The villain wears primary colors instead.
- The hero wears a Secondary Color (purple, orange and green) Outfit.
- Subverted: An apparently heroic character that wears primary colors, but turns out a villain.
- Double Subverted: The villain becomes a hero and keeps their colour scheme.

- Zig Zagged: Some heroes wear primary colors, whereas others wear secondary ones.
- Averted: Good guys wear black.
