Basic Trope: Heroes tend to wear primary colors, particularly red and blue.

  • Straight: The hero's main outfit is Red, Blue, and Yellow.
  • Exaggerated: The color of the hero's suit is exactly one-third red, one-third blue and one-third yellow.
  • Downplayed:
    • The hero has some red, blue, and yellow in his outfit, but it's mostly black.
    • The hero has some red, blue and yellow outfits, but not his Iconic Outfit.
  • Justified:
    • The hero wears primary colors because they're also the colors of his national flag. (He may be from the Philippines, for example)
    • The hero works for an organization with such a color scheme.
    • The hero uses the cheapest quality dyes, which just happen to be blue and red, for his costume.
  • Inverted:
    • Secondary Color Nemesis
    • The villain wears primary colors instead.
    • The hero wears a Secondary Color (purple, orange and green) Outfit.
  • Subverted: An apparently heroic character that wears primary colors, but turns out a villain.
  • Double Subverted: The villain becomes a hero and keeps their colour scheme.
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zig Zagged: Some heroes wear primary colors, whereas others wear secondary ones.
  • Averted: Good guys wear black.
  • Enforced: They had a limited pallet to work with and needed their hero to stand out in all backdrops.
  • Lampshaded: "Red, yellow, blue, those are heroic colors."
  • Invoked: The hero's organization saddles him with a primary colored outfit.
  • Exploited: The villain sets up a trap for The Hero at a "Red, Blue, and Yellow Outfit Sale".
  • Defied: "All the Heroes wear primary colors. I'm gonna go with purple."
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
