Basic Trope: A song about a murder.

  • Straight: "The Hapless Lass of Bonny Downs" is a song about Bob murdering Alice.
  • Exaggerated: "The Hapless Lass of Bonny Downs" is a song about Serial Killer Bob going about his work.
  • Downplayed: "The Hapless Lass of Bonny Downs" is a song about Bob attacking and severely injuring Alice, leaving her with multiple scars, a missing leg and a bad arm.
  • Justified: "The Hapless Lass of Bonny Downs" is Charlie's way of telling (and coming to terms with) what happened to his sister Alice.
