Basic Trope: The Muppets making appearances in non-Muppet works.

  • Straight: Kermit the Frog makes an appearance in an episode of "Tropers".
  • Exaggerated: The entire cast of The Muppet Show makes an appearance.
  • Downplayed: Kermit the Frog does appear, but only as a Funny Background Event or other cameo.
  • Justified:
    • The characters in "Tropers" are fans of The Muppets, and wanted Kermit to make an appearance.
    • Tropers takes place at Elstree Studios during the late 70's, it's only natural that they'll encounter an episode of The Muppet Show being prepped.
  • Inverted: "Sesame Street" Cred
  • Subverted: "Kermit" is revealed to be someone in disguise.
  • Double Subverted: That "someone" would be Fozzie Bear.
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Averted: Muppets don't make any cameos in "Tropers".
  • Enforced:
    • "Tropers" is owned by Disney or The Jim Henson Company (or a division of it), and so a cameo from Muppets would be pretty much expected.
    • The creators of "Tropers" are fans of The Muppets and wanted them to make an appearance.
    • The episode teaches about puppeteering techniques, with Jim and Kermit demonstrating one of them.
    • A Muppets outdoor scene was being shot close to where an outdoor scenes for "Tropers" was being shot at the same time. note
  • Lampshaded: ???
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: ???
  • Discussed: "Hey, Kermit the Frog is on this show!"
  • Conversed: ???
  • Played for Horror: The protagonist of "Tropers" is really Constantine in disguise, luring Kermit into a trap so he can kill him.
