Basic Trope: The story's conclusion is known from the start.

  • Straight: Right at the beginning of Adventures of Bob the audience is told that Bob is going to die.
  • Exaggerated:
    • The exact circumstances of Bob's death, including his last words and the minute it happens in the film, are described in the intro.
    • The movie has a subtitle that refers to Bob's death: Bob Dies After Being Shot by Alice .
  • Downplayed:
    • It is mentioned near the beginning that Bob is not going to have a happy ending.
    • Joseph's Adventure is set in the Adventures of Bob universe. Obviously, the events of that movie still play out in canon, but in this side story, anything goes for the new guys.
  • Justified:
    • Adventures of Bob is an adaptation of A Little Story of Little Men, a work so famous that the ending is common knowledge.
    • Adventures of Bob is a Biopic, it only makes sense to end at his death.
  • Inverted:
    • In a work in an established universe, the ending of Adventures of Jim retcons the details of Adventures of Bob to where the story doesn't mesh with canon.
    • Not His Sled
  • Subverted: Bob actually survives till the end unscathed — as everyone dies eventually.
  • Double Subverted: ...and then comes a post-credit scene in which he dies.
  • Parodied: "Bob dies. Here, you have the ending. You can go home now."
  • Zig Zagged: ???
  • Averted: The story is fairly surprising, with little Foreshadowing, let alone foregone conclusion.
  • Enforced:
  • Lampshaded: "Were you expecting something else? That you'd survive until the very end? Well, sorry, but this isn't that kind of story."
  • Invoked: Because Adventures of Bob has No Fourth Wall, Alice changes the title to Bob Dies At The End.
  • Exploited: Other characters avoid Bob, knowing he's doomed to die.
  • Defied: Because Adventures of Bob is a No Fourth Wall Movie, Bob finds out about the planned ending and changes it to a one that suits him better.
  • Discussed: Bob gets a glimpse of the future... it's not pretty for him.
  • Conversed: "With a tagline like "Bob Dies!", it's not hard to guess how this ends."
  • Deconstructed: Obviously, having a story where you already know the end does little for tension, since the audience can't get invested in Bob knowing he dies.
  • Reconstructed: Adventures of Bob is not about the what, but the how, and despite knowing the ending, the story is told well enough that the journey is important, not the destination.
  • Played For Drama: Bob, having seen his fate beforehand, tries as hard as he can to change it, and for a while, we might believe he could succeed. But then Alice shows up...
