Basic Trope: A character declares their hatred for another character before dying.

I'm glad I'm going to die so I won't have to be surrounded by morons like you! And I always hate that hairstyle of yours! I hope you die a slow and painful death and I hope you burn in hell, you bastard! (dies)
Pete: "Joke's on you, idiot, I hope I burn in hell too. Because then you'll have to put up with me all over again, motherfucker! (spits on Steve's body)- Immediately after the above exchange, Pete dies as well.
- Downplayed:Steve: Pete... I just want you to know that... I hate you... but I like your shoes. (dies)
Steve: Pete... You get the idea by now. (dies)
Steve: Pete, I just want to say that... you're an idiot! (collapses, but doesn't die) - Justified:
- Steve and Pete legitimately hate each other, even when they're friends.
- Steve and Pete are bitter enemies. Steve is killed at the hands of Pete.

- Averted: Steve doesn't say anything contemptible towards Pete at all.

- Exploited: Pete kills Steve, who curses him with his dying breath so that the enemy believes that Pete has betrayed the heroes, when Pete is actually going to work for the villains as a double agent.

- Knowing what Steve will say to him in his dying breath, Pete shoots him so that he's gone for good.

Steve: Pete, there's something you need to know... It's about us. Pete, I- I hate you. I hate you with all my heart. I hate you more than I've ever hated anybody. I hate you so much that I can barely take it. In fact, I want to go on hating you for the rest of my life. And if you don't save this world or whatever, well, I won't be able to hate you anymore. - Played For Drama: Pete is truly crushed by this and responds to Steve in his final moments by expressing his own feelings.Pete: Come on, man! You were still like a brother to me Steve, and I loved you for it! I hope you're happy with your last choice of words, knowing how I really feel.
