Other than being a massive Tear Jerker, Where Was My Hero...? manages to be one of the most nightmarish versions of any Sonic the Hedgehog fan works ever created.
- The fact that Miles' entire life is full of pain and suffering is scary in itself. Imagine being a young child and you are constantly bullied by your hometown just because you are different from everyone else. It's no wonder he became insane with grief afterwards.
- The scene where Miles' pet bird dies is both this and a Tear Jerker. When Miles was building a new invention, a pair of bullies came by and try to destroy his invention. Unfortunately, Miles' pet bird swoops in to save the invention, only to be crushed to death by one of the bullies' weapons. We then see in full detail the bird's blood spraying all over the place, including on Miles himself.
- What happens next in that scene is even more nightmarish as Miles finally snaps and he beats the bullies to death with their own weapon as blood splatters all over the page."HE WAS MY ONLY... FAMILY!" (proceeds to bludgeon the bully duo to death with their own weapon)
- What adds up to the horror is that you can hear the bullies being afraid and terrified, as they both are all screaming in the background of Official Dubbed Version.

- What happens next in that scene is even more nightmarish as Miles finally snaps and he beats the bullies to death with their own weapon as blood splatters all over the page.
- What follows is Miles one-upping his bully kills by burning down his entire village. The only expression on his face is one of subdued glee, since he got his revenge in the worst way! And what are his only words during this scene?"Yeah... now I'm ready to go... I never thought that something so wrong, could feel so right... I will show this world how special I am..."
- The Interquel reveals that while Sonic managed to save all villagers in the fire, he yet thinks that Miles Prowler (Tails) and Bates Tenebris (The Bully that got killed by Miles, earlier along with his brother.) presumes them both dead, and pins the blame behind the fire on Bates's brother Leo Tenebris, (The Bully who also got killed by Miles with his brother Bates.) Years later, he would recruit the very culprit in the fight against Dr. Eggman by sheer coincidence.
- Cream would take shelter from a storm in the same cave as Miles. This takes place after he burned down his village. It is a wonder that she left unscathed.
- When Cream the Rabbit gives Miles her pocket knife, she lets him keep it in exchange for him making her an umbrella. After being left alone, Miles was tempted to chop off his tails with it before pushing those thoughts aside.
- Miles' murder of Dr. Eggman. Miles, so that he could try to become a hero like Sonic. But he figured that Murder Is the Best Solution and he ends up killing Dr. Eggman. Even though we don't see the death itself, we do see Dr. Eggman's blood splattered hand and Sonic's shocked expression in the same panel.
- Miles' facial expressions throughout the story are completely nightmarish. First off, he has Creepy Shadowed Undereyes in all of his appearances, which makes him look demented. And secondly, he constantly has a Slasher Smile plastered on his face, especially when he meets up with Sonic for their big fight.
- Sonic and Miles' big battle with each other. What makes this scene so terrifying is that Miles is laughing crazily throughout the whole fight, which makes him look both demented and psychotic.
- The fact that this story is about one of the nicest characters in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise Miles "Tails" Prower becoming a villain, is actually pretty shocking since Miles became an even more disturbing and psychotic villain than Dr. Eggman himself. Unlike most stories which just slap the Ron the Death Eater treatment on the character out of nowhere, what makes this so terrifying is that the scenario is based on the very real issue of long-term bullying which Tails canonically suffered from, making it very believable that if Tails never met Sonic, this outcome wouldn't be some ridiculous fantasy.
