"Ever wonder how far the arm can twist? This device is going to start twisting."

  • Eric smashing his foot with a toilet tank lid and snapping it downwards to remove the chain from his leg. And then fighting with Amanda, who kicks in his ankle on her way out, causing it to break in another spot. The sound effects and screaming don't help much.
  • The Classroom Trap. The victim is chained up in a room and must escape before the nail bomb in the room explodes. That may seem tame, but the chains are attached to large metal rings that pierce through his body, including his heels, hands, shoulders, and his jaw. The sounds made when he rips the chains out are excruciating.
    • Even worse, the trap was inescapable. Not only was one of the chains looped through his jaw (the strongest bone in the human body), but the door was welded shut.
  • The Angel Trap. Detective Kerry is hooked into a device that will tear out her ribcage if she doesn't escape it. To escape, she must retrieve a key from within a beaker of acid. When she finally gets the key, her hand is badly burned and the beaker is dyed a deep red from her blood. It is at this point when she discovers the trap is inescapable when the key fails to free her from the trap and it rips her ribcage out of her body, causing her guts to come spilling out. Damn.
  • The Freezing Room, in which the victim is hung naked in a walk-in freezer and sprayed with cold water, causing them to freeze to death. This was probably one of the more forgettable traps, however if you've ever taken a shower when the water starts too cold and you remember the trap, it does make one a little uncomfortable. In context, this trap also seems harsher to the victim, who was only there because she fled the crime scene of the death of Jeff's son, in which she was the only witness. Of course it was cowardly and a pretty jerky move, but did she really deserve to die? Even scarier is that this death trap doesn't involve any bloodshed, a rarity in this franchise.
  • The Pig Vat. The victim is placed in a neck shackle on the bottom of a vat connected to a shredder. On the ceiling above is a hook conveyor that begins dropping rotten, maggot-infested pig carcasses into the shredder, gradually filling the vat with liquefied pig guts. It's not a subtle rise either; each time a pig is dropped in the victim is absolutely splattered with thick brown viscera. It's easily the most disgusting trap in the franchise, and once again a trap that relies on the charity of another person to rescue you. This time the victim is fortunate enough to escape, but not before being submerged up to his eyes.
    • At the beginning, a track that samples Slayer's "Eyes of the Insane" (a song disturbing on its own) plays in the background, which can add a bonus factor if you recognize it (as unlikely as it may be).
  • Jigsaw's brain surgery. Regardless of whether you like the character or not, it's unbelievably nerve-wracking to watch a doctor cutting through someone's skull with a circular saw, with the patient not having any anaesthetics.
  • The Rack (pictured). Imagine being placed on a crucifix which will break your arms, legs, and neck SEPARATELY by slowly twisting them. How does the victim escape this fate? Well, their survival isn't up to them. Their only hope is a second person who has to grab a key to stop the device. Said key is attached to a chain that if pulled on too much will cause a shotgun to shoot them in the face. Oh, and the contraption is triggered to start a few seconds after the tape that explains the rules finishes. And to further screw the victim over: the person who has to grab the key to release him just happens to be the father of the child the victim accidentally killed.
  • The bloody mess that's left of Lynn's head when the Shotgun Collar goes off. Perhaps, this is the one of the most nightmarish and nauseating shots in the entire Saw franchise.
