Behind you, Conrad.

  • In general, any Jump Scare accompanied by a loud Scare Chord, especially since they pop out of nowhere in certain sections while you are just exploring a seemingly abandoned, silent ship. Nothing Is Scarier indeed.
  • The Nightmare Face reveals are horrifying enough as they are, even though they are slowly revealed.
    • Joe's encounter with the Creepy Child in the prologue. While he is just initially stalked by it, he later opens the locker where the kid recently hid, only to die quickly from a heart attack after being terrified of the kid's face and scream.
    • Conrad spends some time being chased by a hideous female monster who initially presented herself as an attractive woman. Her smiling nightmare face (pictured above) is shown just as she slowly approaches him from behind. The Chase Scene itself is quite long too, and the player is also treated to several views of the monster as Conrad repeatedly looks behind. It also gets more deformed the longer it chases him, with the full view of the creature happening in the rain, revealing it to look much like a zombie.
  • Near the end of the game, Alex can hallucinate a rat bursting out of his body like a Chestburster from Alien, while also being confronted with another hallucination of a two-headed monster (or a bloodied Olson). The next part is a Quick Time Event wherein you as the player can make Alex stab himself to death.
  • If everyone dies during the course of the game, The Stinger will showcase Olsen waking up after being disturbed by Danny. Olsen proceeds to suffocate Danny to death while his eyes glow red as if possessed by a demon. Although this is likely the result of the Manchurian Gold, the fact that the effect is different from every other hallucination suggests that this may be supernatural.
    • This can actually still happen if people survived and even if Olson gets cut in half you can still get this scene indicating it was likely just Danny suffocating.
  • There's a rare jumpscare that involves Julia briefly seeing Conrad as a clown. Yeah, it's pretty nerve-wrecking.
  • If Conrad escaped off the Duke of Milan but is shot and killed by Olsen, the ending shows his body in the speedboat, with both his eyes picked out by a bird.
  • The Manchurian Gold makes very bizarre and horrifying things happen. At one point Fliss' shirt changes from pink to blue, or a character is suddenly and inexplicably in a different place and with a different person than before. Sometimes people hallucinate they're covered by insects, or they find themselves dead. The gold seems to make any horror actually happen, if only for the moment. If the players aren’t careful these hallucinations can easily lead to a character’s own death, or make them kill others under the delusion that they’re being attacked by monsters, or even by friends.
    • While playing as Fliss in some chapters, a ghostly silhouette of Brad can be seen in the background. This apparition notably appears more often if Brad dies, which is especially scary when considering Danny’s earlier remark that if you die on the ship, your ghost stays on the ship.
