The Emancipation of Mimi is the tenth studio album by Mariah Carey, released on April 12, 2005.
Emancipation served as Mariah's comeback following the critical and commercial failures of Glitter (2001) and Charmbracelet (2002). The album became a chart-topper. Its second single, "We Belong Together," topped the charts for fourteen nonconsecutive weeks. It was the longest-running number-one hit of the 2000s.
She garnered eight nominations at the 2006 Grammys for the album, including Album Of The Year. She won three: Best Contemporary R&B Album, and Best R&B Song and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for "We Belong Together."
