Stup Virus is the fourth album by French Alternative Hip Hop trio Stupeflip. It was funded through the crowdfunding platform Ulule.

The Crou has a new spokesperson : Sandrine Cacheton, a synthetic voice which talks about how the Crou has become some sort of scientology-like cult. Meanwhile, Pop-Hip is burning in Stup Hell and we might know more about the origins of Stupeflip thanks to the track "1993".

This album provides examples of:

  • Album Closure: "Pleure Pas Stupeflip" starts with lyrics spoken by a fan who says goodbye to Stupeflip. The third part of the track, "Fan de Stup" is also a reminiscence of the band's career.
  • Album Intro Track: The appropriately titled "Intro" presents Sandrine Cacheton.
  • Album Title Drop: On the Title Track and casually throughout the album
  • Bilingual Bonus: Sandrine Cacheton also speaks in English on "Stup Virus" and "Fan de Stup".
  • Call-Back
    • The Title Track samples bits of "Krou Kontr Atack" and "Apocalypse 894".
    • "Fou-Fou" samples vocals from "Apocalypse !!!"
    • "1993" samples various tracks from Stupeflip's first two albums
      • On top of sampling lyrics from the track "Stupeflip", the lyrics also talk about the genesis behind the song.
      • Cadillac talks about a humiliating experience where he felt like a "poor comical clown".
      • The scatologic lyrics of "The Cadillac Theory" are sampled.
      • Cadillac also mentions Casimir, which is a throwback to "Ouest Region's Inquisitors" (from Stup Religion) and the event where he found out that Casimir is just a costume worn by actors.
And if one day you find yourself inside Casimir
That's not the rule, you need to get out!
  • Catchphrase: "C'est vraiment très sympa ce truc" note  said by Sandrine Cacheton throughout the album.
  • Continuity Nod
    • "Understup" references the fact that King Ju used to decapitate flies when he was a kid, something he previously mentionned on the first two Stupeflip albums.
    • "Le Trou Noir" mentions events following the track "Lettre à Mylène" (from Stupeflip's previous album The Hypnoflip Invasion). Mylène still hasn't written back to King Ju but he understands.
      • This is also the fourth album by Stupeflip to mention Mylène.
      • In real life, a collaborator of Mylène revealed that she didn't care about Stupeflip.
  • Epic Rocking: "Pleure pas Stupeflip" is a track split into three musical parts for the first ten minutes, and a last spoken one where Sandrine Cacheton keeps talking about the Crou in French and English.
  • Face on the Cover: While it has been argued that the pink figure on the cover art is King Ju, the cover of the Ulule edition shows King Ju with an orange water gun.
  • Fading into the Next Song: The last minute of "Trou Noir" contains the instrumental to "Pleure Pas Stupeflip", the next track.
  • Limited Lyrics Song
    • The only lyrics on "Grosse Tête" are "Grosse Tête, Jean-Luc Le-" repeated.
  • Longest Song Goes Last: The album ends with "Pleure pas Stupeflip" which lasts over 15 minutes and 24 seconds.
  • One-Word Title: "Intro", "Understup", "Stalactites" and "Forcefield".
  • Product Placement: On "Trou Noir", Reverb Man mentions the Baff popcorn brand.
  • Sampling: "Crou Anthem" samples Fryderyk Chopin's "Fantaisie Impromptu".
  • Shout-Out: See the dedicated page.
  • Special Guest
    • King Ju's niece sings on "Understup" and "Fou-Fou".
    • Sandrine Cacheton raps on "Crou Anthem".
  • Synth-Pop: "Lonely Loverz".
  • Take That!: "Grosse Tête" is a short track where King Ju calls French humorist Jean-Luc Lemoine a bighead twenty times.
  • Take That, Audience!: On "Pleure pas Stupeflip", Sandrine Cacheton mentions that fans of Stupeflip ("rabbits") only know their song "Stupeflip Vite !!!". She also calls the listener an idiot on two occasions.
  • Title by Year: "1993".
  • Title Track
  • The Walrus Was Paul: "La Seule Alternative" and "Fan de Stup" mention the fact that the Crou is built on a mystery and doesn't make sense on purpose.
You'd like to talk with me
And tell you about the Stup era
But I don't know as much as you
And don't worry, it's only lies
  • Xtreme Kool Letterz: "Lonely Loverz".
