He's about to rocket to the moon.
Cian Carey is an Irish rapper and musician, best known by his stage name DubalC (pronounced "double see").

A native of Finglas in North Dublin, he was a Child Prodigy and started rapping at a young age and released his first track at the age of sixteen (though unreleased tracks were recorded at fifteen). He is perhaps best known for his song "Rocket to the Moon" and his contribution to the COMIX album with Bernard-M.

He often collaborates with his friend Danny Ruszo, and they released a whole album together titled Immature, Not Amateur.

Also has a TikTok.

Tropes associated with DubalC include:

  • Alliterative Name: His stage name comes from the fact that his initials are CC.
  • Anti-Love Song: "Anymore", which appropriately opens with "I don't want to love you anymore".
  • Badass Boast: He gives us this gem in "In My Head".
"If I'm not big, I'll be next to it."
  • Bait-and-Switch: He was involved in a TikTok comedy sketch that was shared to Lad Bible - where he aggressively goes up to another boy on the street and says "do you want a box!", the other boy says yes...and then he arrives back with a cardboard box and sweetly says "here you go".
  • Bottle Episode: The "I'm That Kid" video is just him in one room with only a handful of different angles.
  • Break Up Song:
    • One of his earlier ones "Anymore", a collaboration with Deanie, is from the perspective of someone just out of a toxic relationship.
    • "Hoodie Back" is set post-break up and has him and Danny singing about how they want their hoodie back from the ex.
  • Cluster F-Bomb: His tracks will contain several expletives.
  • Country Matters: "Love Songs" opens with "we fell in love with a bunch of cunts". It's not the last time you hear the word in the song.
  • Cruel to Be Kind: Alluded to in "Rocket to the Moon", where he says "my cruelty is kind", referring to his use of Brutal Honesty.
  • Denser and Wackier: His TikTok sketches are much goofier and more light-hearted than his music.
  • The Diss Track:
    • "In My Head" has him ripping on people who mistreated him.
    • "Hoodie Back" is the same towards an ex girlfriend.
  • Drowning My Sorrows: He alludes to "booze to loosen the mind" in "Rocket to the Moon".
  • Drugs Are Bad: A recurring theme in his work is how he refuses to do drugs.
  • Dublin Skanger: Defied. "Deathly Hollows" has him insisting he's "not scum even though I'm from the scummy streets and I don't puff the green".
  • The Fashionista: Known for his fashion sense.
  • Flipping the Bird:
    • He and the rest of the students give the camera the double finger at the end of the "In My Head" video.
    • "Rocket to the Moon" has a lyric referring to "middle finger as high as you in the sky".
  • Gag Haircut:
    • Due to barbers being closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, he first grew his hair out and then buzzed it off.
    • Danny devoted a vlog in 2021 to the two of them bleaching their hair blond, hating the result and shaving it two episodes later.
  • Gaslighting: Quoth this lyric in "In My Head".
"I try to speak out but get told it's all in my head."
  • Ham and Deadpan Duo: He's the Deadpan Snarker to Danny's Camp Straight.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: He and Danny are extremely close and, given the amount of break-up songs they collaborate on, one could be forgiven for thinking they might be better off trying it on with each other instead.
  • "I Am" Song: What else do you expect from a track titled "Genuine Prodigy"? He declares that he's "got a lot of things I want to be" but knows he's that already.
  • "I Want" Song: "Rocket to the Moon" is about his hopes and ambitions for the future.
"Even if I flop or lose, I'm still gonna rocket to the moon."
  • Intercourse with You: "Love Can Turn To Hate" references ahem..."cock in women".
  • Lighter and Softer: In contrast to his angstier "In My Head", "Rocket to the Moon" is a hopeful song about what he wants to achieve, and he declares that he'll be good to his future fans.
  • Man of a Thousand Voices: He's demonstrated his ability to do impressions and voices on Instagram and TikTok. He's particularly fond of doing Tommy Shelby or Stewie Griffin.
  • Mr. Fanservice: Not so much in his music videos, but frequently posts pictures shirtless or in wifebeaters.
  • Nerd Glasses: He wears them in the "In My Head" video, befitting the school setting. He goes without them for the out of uniform scene.
  • Pungeon Master: He's quite fond of making puns in his lyrics.
  • Sanity Slippage Song: The aptly titled "In My Head", about his troubled thoughts and inner angst.
  • Scenery Porn: The "Rocket to the Moon" video shows off Dublin city centre at night.
  • Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: He's the Manly Man to Danny's Sensitive Guy.
  • Silly Love Songs: "Love Songs" has he and Danny regretting writing so many love songs about girls they ended up hating.
  • Specs of Awesome: Performs while wearing glasses in the school portions of the "In My Head" video.
  • Tamer and Chaster: "I'm That Kid" started off as a freestyle on Instagram done while he was shirtless. The version he put on YouTube has him wearing a t-shirt.
  • This Is for Emphasis, Bitch!: "Hoodie Back" adds "bitch" to the end of every other lyric.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: He got into fitness in 2020 and isn't shy about showing it off.
  • Younger Than They Look: Due to his increased muscle mass, he's often assumed to be in his twenties. He only turned seventeen in 2021. It's also quite jarring to watch "Genuine Prodigy", which was recorded when he was only fifteen but not released until a year later; there he looks his age.
