Get in, loser! We're going troping!
Being that Mean Girls might be the most quotable movie of all time, it's no wonder it generated so many memes.
- "SHE DOESN'T EVEN GO HERE!"◊ note Damien yells this at a girl from a different school who wandered into the trust fall exercise session to talk about her feelings. Can be used as a meme for anyone you don't want around.
- "Do you even go to this school?" "No, I just have a lot of feelings." note Ms. Norbury and the girl's conversation immediately after that.
- On Tumblr, the phrase "I don't even go here" or just "I don't go here", a reference to this meme, has become shorthand for "I'm not part of this fandom" or "I'm not personally involved in this". For example, a user might reblog a piece of fanart from a fandom they're not in with the tag "I don't go here but this is cool."
- "Four for you, Glen Coco! You go Glen Coco!". note Damien dresses up as Santa to hand out candy cane-grams and gives four to a barely seen student he calls "Glen Coco". This immediately became a Snowclone type meme, replacing Glen Coco's name with the name of any general Ensemble Dark Horse.
- "And none for Gretchen Wieners. Bye." note What Damien says to Gretchen immediately afterwards. Usually used to make fun of The Scrappy.
- "Don't have sex. You will get pregnant... and ''die''." note Coach Carr explains sexual education this way. Used to mock abstinence education, which was the dominant format of sexual "education" in American high schools at the time.
- "That's so fetch!" note Gretchen tries to make this a Catchphrase and says it in response to anything she thinks is cool. It's a Forced Meme in-universe (see the below response), but ironically became a real meme to describe anything the user thinks is...fetch.
- "So, you agree? You think you're really pretty?"note When Cady thanks Regina for calling her pretty, Regina immediately twists her words in response to make her sound like she's arrogant.
- "We should totally just stab Caesar!" note Gretchen goes on a rant during her report on Julius Caesar for English class that ends with this, showing that she's snapped after seeing Cady win Regina's favor.
- "Boo, you whore." note What Regina tells Karen over the phone when Karen lies that she can't hang out with her because she's sick and fake-coughs.
- "That's why her hair's so big. It's full of secrets." note Damien says this about Gretchen when he and Janis are telling Cady about the Plastics.
- "Nice wig, Janis. What's it made of?" "Your Mom's chest hair!" note As part of Janis's Establishing Character Moment as a school outcast, she has this exchange with a passing student when first meeting Cady.
- "How do I begin to explain Regina George?" and the ensuing explanation have been parodied to hell and back with characters from various other media. The scene itself makes Regina something of a Memetic Badass in-universe.
- She punched me in the face, it was awesome! note What one girl says in the montage.
- On Tumblr, the Ashleys from Recess have been recast as grade-school versions of the Plastics.
- As with the "code names" scene from Parks and Recreation, it's a popular gag to take stills from another movie or show, and caption them with Mean Girls dialogue to draw parallels between the characters. Here is one example from The Two Towers, and another◊ from one of the Harry Potter films.
- The US women's gymnastics team at the 2012 London Olympics as the Plastics. Image macros of the gymnasts (most of whom are teenage girls or twenty-something women) with appropriate lines from the film attached.
- "Damn, Africa, what happened?!" note Kevin comments on Cady's failing grade on her algebra test, which she deliberately failed to get Aaron to tutor her. Later became used in memes about Lindsay Lohan's highly-publicized drug and legal troubles.
- How many of you have been victimized by Regina George? note Ms. Norbury asks this question at the girls' meeting after the school fight over the comments in the Burn Book. Many hands go up.
- Ah hell no, I did not leave the south side for this! note Principal Duvall yells this when he finds the girls fighting in the halls, right before turning on the sprinklers.
- "If you're from Africa, why are you white?" "Oh my god, Karen, you can't just ask people why they're white." note Karen asks Cady why she's white even though she comes from Africa, which Gretchen immediately admonishes her for. Often misquoted as "You can't just ask someone why they're white." Also popularly repurposed by actual white Africans (usually South Africans, but also others) who get tired of explaining that yes, there are white people from Africa.
- Vintage. So adorable. note Regina makes this comment on a girl's skirt before telling Cady that it's the "ugliest effing skirt [she has] ever seen".
- "I, like, invented her, you know what I mean?" note Regina talking about Cady after Cady surpasses her in popularity to become the new Alpha Bitch.
- Did you have an awesome time? Did you drink awesome shooters, listen to awesome music, and then just sit around and soak up each other's awesomeness? note Part of Janis's "The Reason You Suck" Speech to Cady that calls her out for becoming so friendly with Regina and the other Plastics that she's turned into one of them.
- Let me tell you something about Janis Ian. Click for the restWe were best friends in middle school. I know, right? It's so embarrassing. I don't even... Whatever. So then in eighth grade, I started going out with my first boyfriend Kyle who was totally gorgeous but then he moved to Indiana, and Janis was like, weirdly jealous of him. Like, if I would blow her off to hang out with Kyle, she'd be like, "Why didn't you call me back?" And I'd be like, "Why are you so obsessed with me?" So then, for my birthday party, which was an all-girls pool party, I was like, "Janis, I can't invite you, because I think you're lesbian." I mean I couldn't have a lesbian at my party. There were gonna be girls there in their bathing suits. I mean, right? She was a lesbian. So then her mom called my mom and started yelling at her, it was so retarded. And then she dropped out of school because no one would talk to her, and she came back in the fall for high school, all of her hair was cut off and she was totally weird, and now I guess she's on crack.
- "I can't help it if I've got a heavy flow and a wide-set vagina."note What one girl says at the girls' meeting when talking about the claims in the Burn Book about her use of "super jumbo" tampons.
- "I can't go to Taco Bell, I'm on an all-carb diet! God, Karen, you're so stupid!"note Regina's response to Karen asking if she wants to go to Taco Bell to cheer her up over Aaron dumping her.
- "It's like the rules of feminism."note Gretchen says this when telling Cady she can't date Aaron because he's Regina's ex-boyfriend.
- "You know who's looking fine tonight? Seth Mosakowski." "Okay, you did not just say that." "What? He's a good kisser." "He's your cousin."note Karen and Gretchen's conversation at the Halloween party about Karen's relationship with her cousin.
- "YOU CAN'T SIT WITH US!"note Gretchen tells Regina this at lunch when she wears sweatpants on Monday, which one of the Plastics' rules forbids.
- "I'm not like a regular mom, I'm a cool mom."note Regina's mom says this when Cady first meets her, establishing her Amazingly Embarrassing Parents status.
- "The limit does not exist!"note Cady gives this as her final answer at the Mathletes competition, which gives her team the victory.
- "You smell like a baby prostitute."note Janis says this about Cady's new perfume after she joined the Plastics.
- "Can I get you guys anything? Some snacks? A condom? Let me know! Oh, God love ya." note What Mrs. George has to say when she sees Regina making out with her new boyfriend on her bed. Frequently used with Third Wheel pictures on Tumblr.
- "Get in, loser! We're going shopping!"note Regina yells this at Cady from her car before the mall sequence.
- "I saw Cady Heron wear army pants & flip-flops, so I bought army pants & flip-flops!"note One girl says this during a montage after Cady topples Regina to be the new Alpha Bitch.
- October 3rd: The day he asked her what day it was.note Aaron asks Cady what day it is in calculus. Became a meme because of the date, which coincidentally coincides with another important October 3rd.
- "On Wednesdays, we wear pink."note One of the Plastics' "rules", which Cady has to follow by borrowing Damien's pink shirt.
- "I gave him everything! I was half a virgin when I met him!" note Regina after Aaron dumps her.
- "Mom, can you pick me up? I'm scared."note One boy calls his mom and says this when the schoolwide fight between all of the girls breaks out over Regina's release of the Burn Book.
- "Oh my God, that was one time!" note This is a character's response when leaks from the Burn Book reveal that she made out with a hot dog (which, in the original script, was that she masturbated with one; this was dubbed over in the theatrical version, though if you look closely, you can see what her lips are actually saying).
- Meg kissed Dave. note Because Gretchen and Jason are played by Lacey Chabert (who played Meg Griffin on Family Guy) and Daniel DeSanto (who'd later go on to play Dave on Total Drama: Pahkitew Island), it became very popular for Family Guy and Total Drama fans to joke about Meg kissing Dave.
