General Counselor Memes
- Shrek Dude. Explanation Wes, a developer, revealed on the official Friday the 13th Game discord server that the internal name for the man who gets killed in the intro is, in fact, Shrek Dude. The reason for this is due to him looking very cartoony without mesh/light absorption, like a Shrek character.
- Bridge Trolls. Explanation When the game launched, players discovered a way to glitch themselves under the various bridges in the maps of the game, leading to them becoming invincible, allowing them to AFK there all game until Jason ragequit or the timer runs out. This is heavily frowned upon due to it being not only an exploit, but it also just being a general asshole move. Thankfully, this exploit was removed in a patch on June 27th.
- Roof Trolls. Explanation Similarly to the Bridge Trolls above, players discovered a way to glitch themselves onto the roof of the Packanack Lodge, becoming invincible just like the Bridge Trolls. This, too, was removed alongside the Bridge exploit on June 27th.
- "Is That A Dead Body?!" Explanation Upon finding the body of a dead player, Counselors have a good chance to suddenly stop in their tracks, gasp/scream, and then wonder if what they're looking is a dead body. It's particularly well known for also causing many players fleeing from Jason to die horribly because of this sudden and unnecessary stop.
- California Girls/Shake It EmoteExplanation A meme that started on TikTok when someone playing Chad Kensington decided to use the "Shake It" emote while in speedo swimwear to distract a Jason player from seeing a beartrap, the same player decided to overlay the moment with "California Gurls" which soon ended up becoming a meme sensation. An example of its popularity is that someone on the Steam Workshop for TF2 decided to make it an emote for their game and have the same song play.
Chad Kensington
- Chad Face. Explanation The face Chad makes in the intro of every match, since it was first spotted in the beta, has become a large meme in the community, leading to a badge in the full game being named Chad Face.
- Chad the Asshole. Explanation Chad players are usually the most likely to be assholes; Stealing the car, selling out others to save their own skin, ect. There's even an in-game achievement called Chad is a Dick where you must escape in the car or boat by yourself while there are still other counselors alive.
- Battle Chad.Explanation A term that players use to "Chads" that use their perks to increase their offensive capabilities and turn the character into a capable fighter that can stun and flee from Jason for long durations at a time. It was coined by Bryce Games, Swag Dracula, Ohmwrecker and Gorillaphent on Twitch Streams during the Beta.
Eric LaChappa
- Eric the Weeaboo. Explanation People have started interpreted him as a weeaboo or anime fan. This interpretation increased in usage after the discovery of the twitter of the Kickstarter backer LaChappa was based off showed him to be an anime fan.
- Eric the Dungeons & Dragons nerd. Explanation Another interpretation of Eric, due to being a generic fat nerdy guy with glasses, has lead him to be portrayed as being a major Dungeons and Dragons/fantasy nerd, resulting in matches like this.
- Eric the Badass Explanation Eric is often seen as a Memetic Badass in the eyes of players, someone who can steal girls from Chad, defeat Jason in single combat using moves he learned from anime, and get everyone out alive single handily.
Tiffany Cox
- Tiffany's Booty. Explanation Tiffany's shorts are very short, to the point where half her butt is exposed. This tends to be the subject of a lot of jokes for gamers that play as her.
- Save the Booty! Explanation A few gamers that play as Tiffany tend to shout this out when running from Jason. Occasionally, another player trying to save Tiffany from Jason might use this phrase.
Tommy Jarvis
- Traitor: -1000 XP Explanation As well as many other circumstances, Tommy players were known to kill counselors with his shotgun back when betrayal was a regular mechanic in all matches (before being changed to only optional in private ones). Whether it's intentional or not (like shooting Jason while he's holding a counselor, causing said counselor to take shot instead.)
- "I've got to help the others!" Explanation Tommy usually says this or something similar once he spawns on the map. What makes it memetic is that many players instead of aiding the other players, like Tommy suggests, instead opt to immediately head to the nearest escape route.
Jason memes:
Jason Memes
- Old Man Jason. Explanation On June 13th, 2017, Jason officially became 71 years old (in universe). This has lead many fans to joke about his age, saying he needs to get a cane, sending him to a retirement home, ect.
- Home Run.Explanation This term came to be as result of a glitch that allows the counselors to kill Jason by sending him flying off the map. The easiest way to activate the glitch is to hit Jason immediately after he grab someone that was in the car or fixing the car. Amusingly, the weapon that has the highest chance of activating this glitch is a baseball bat.
- Prequel to Jason X.Explanation Many players jokingly claim that Jason end up in space for Jason X as a result of the glitch described in "Home Run".
- Barney Jason.Explanation A common Fan Nickname for the Retro Jason Skin due to its purple and green/cyan blue color scheme. Players that refer themselves as this tend to kill counselors by using the "Hugged to Death" killing animation.
- But Jason is supposed to be OP! Explanation A common term used in a joking or sardonic manner towards those offering game balancing suggestions for Jason's controversially overpowered and mechanically broken gameplay status, which describes the behaviour of an overly zealous fan who are against nerfing Jason.
- Asphyxiated.Explanation Jason players love to use the "Choke" grab kill, due it being easier to perform than other kills (since most of them require a certain amount of free space to perform them, while Choke doesn't) and a little quick animation-wise. This is often seen as a "tryhard" tactic.
- Decapitated.Explanation Another kill Jason players love to perform is the Head Punch, which is INSANELY fast in terms of animation time along with being easier to perform ala Choke, which makes this kill perfect for grabbing inside groups of counselors or near the car.
- Jason's Swimsuit. Explanation Came shortly after the announcement for the Swimsuit DLC, a clothing pack that gives a fair amount of Fanservice for players in the form of bikinis and speedos. Naturally, players began to demand Jason to get in on the action.
