Unfaithful is a Yuri Genre oneshot by Mochi Au Lait.

Yukiko "Tashiron" Tashiro is a young adult woman in an unhappy relationship with her roommate and girlfriend. The one bright spot in her life is her part-time job, which she works to help with their finances and have some degree of independence. She forms a bond with her coworker Kyoko Ootsuki, but is Ootsuki merely a colleague to Tashiron, or something more?

Warning: Since the twist at the end is key to the manga, not all spoilers will be tagged.

The manga contains examples of:

  • Apologizes a Lot: Tashiron's default response to being scolded by her girlfriend is to meekly apologize.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Ootsuki seems pleasant at first glance, but tailored her personality to steal Tashiron away, purely for fun.
  • Black-and-Gray Morality: Tashiron's girlfriend is a Domestic Abuser with no apparent redeeming qualities, and while Tashiron's situation is unfortunate, she is cheating on her girlfriend. Meanwhile, Ootsuki appears to be kind to Tashiron, but also knowingly helps her cheat on her girlfriend, and the revelation that she's a Manipulative Bastard and a Stalker with a Crush implies that she might be even worse than the girlfriend.
  • Domestic Abuser: Tashiron's girlfriend belittles her for forgetting to buy beer, despite how she refuses to let Tashiron drink it due to not being the breadwinner. She also is against Tashiron working part-time, possibly to exert more control over Tashiron.
  • The Ending Changes Everything: The final page of the one-shot reveals that Ootsuki was manipulating Tashiron all along.
  • Extreme Doormat: Tashiron comes off as rather weak-willed, and has trouble standing up to her girlfriend. She even gets dragged into going out for drinks with Ootsuki despite her initial objections.
  • Extremely Short Timespan: The oneshot takes place over the course of a single night.
  • Last-Name Basis: Tashiron calls Ootsuki "Ootsuki-san," while Ootsuki calls Tashiron by a nickname derived from her surname. Tashiron asks Ootsuki to call her by her first name, but is so overwhelmed by emotion that Ootsuki goes back to using her nickname.
  • Love Triangle: Tashiron is torn between her girlfriend and Ootsuki. It's hard to tell whether they love her, since her relationship with her girlfriend has turned abusive, while Ootsuki is manipulating her.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Ootsuki deliberately put on a "kind senpai" act to get Tashiron to fall for her.
  • Misery Poker: When Tashiron's girlfriend complains that she's tired, Tashiron replies that she's tired, too. Her girlfriend dismissively tells her not to lump them in the same category, since the girlfriend has a full-time job and Tashiron only works part-time. Tashiron thinks that she handles all the chores in addition to her job.
  • No Name Given: Tashiron's girlfriend is not named.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Tashiron's girlfriend followed her home and eavesdropped on her to learn of her relationship troubles.
  • The Stinger: Page 21 seems to conclude the one-shot, since it has "FIN" on the bottom, but then Page 22 shows Ootsuki listening to a recording of the evening and giggling over how easily she manipulated Tashiron.
  • Sympathetic Adulterer: Tashiron is stuck in an abusive relationship, so she naturally is attracted to the first woman who shows her kindness.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: Tashiron confesses that she desires Ootsuki's approval, hence why she tries so hard at work.
  • Yuri Genre: All three main characters are lesbians- Tashiron, her girlfriend and the woman with whom she's cheating on her girlfriend.
