The film contains examples of:

  • Award Snub: Diane Lane did not win the Best Actress Oscar for her work, though she was admittedly a long shot.
  • Best Known for the Fanservice: For a lot of viewers, the most memorable aspect of the film are the wildly animalistic sex scenes between Diane Lane and Olivier Martinez.
  • Spiritual Successor: To Fatal Attraction. They share a director, even. Given that it's the wife who cheats this time, it could also be considered a Gender Flip.
  • Strangled by the Red String: Connie meets Paul once, very briefly and his Good Samaritan routine is supposedly enough reason for her to risk her happy marriage for him.

The manga oneshot contains examples of:

  • Alternative Character Interpretation:
    • Ootsuki. Is she a sociopath who feels nothing for Tashiron and only enjoys the thrill of manipulating others? Or does she actually have feelings for Tashiron, albeit being extremely manipulative in trying to win her over?
    • After the ending, some readers began debating whether Tashiron would be better off with her current girlfriend or Ootsuki. One camp wonders if the girlfriend isn't actually so bad, at least in comparison to the manipulative Ootsuki. Another camp argues that for all Ootsuki's manipulations, she actually seems to show affection to Tashiron, unlike the girlfriend. A third camp contends that neither relationship is at all healthy.
  • The Woobie: Tashiron is stuck in an abusive relationship with a girlfriend who belittles her and wants to keep her dependent on her. She manages to get some independence through a part-time job, as well as a kind coworker, but the coworker turns out to be manipulating her for kicks.
