When demons and the countryside collide into a menagerie of a Slice of Life story!

Demon Lord Meets a Countryside Life.

A Demon Lord, known by her name of Nonoa Moa Aleha, arrives on our world. But what follows next is completely atypical from any demon stories in fiction. Nonoa opts a countryside life after marrying an average elementary school teacher, Toneri Yamada. Toneri, initially feared for his life in his first encounter with her, reveals that she has an obsession for destruction but not in a way he would expect. Instead, she has a fascination with the rural life after being fascinated with the idea of overgrown weeds and broken, old vehicles, leading to become obsessed with the countryside.

With a chance encounter, Toneri's life would turn upside down after marrying her. Hilarity Ensues as Nonoa's hijinks with her married countryside life with Toneri starts here in an unexpected fashion!

If a Demon Lord Were to Get Married in the Countryside (魔王が田舎に嫁いだら, Maou ga Inaka ni Totsuidara) is a Slice of Life Seinen manga by Hirota Takahara, with a dash of demons in it. It began serialization in Comic Cune on March 26, 2022.

Tropes of the Manga

  • Aerith and Bob: Out of the main cast including Toneri who have Earth-sounding names, only Nonoa has a name that is blatantly fantastical from the rest.
  • Alliterative Name: Nonoa Moa Aleha.
  • Genki Girl: Nonoa is extremely hyperactive and is prone to causing trouble towards others.
  • Hair-Contrast Duo: The black-haired Toneri is reasonable and calm while the white-haired Nonoa is hyperactive and boisterous.
  • Interspecies Romance: The human Toneri is married to Nonoa, a non-human Demon Lord.
  • Lethal Chef: As shown in the first chapter, Nonoa's cooking skills are rather abysmal to the point that Yamada almost vomited from it, not that he resisted in doing so. Also Discussed by Nonoa that she is not very good at making things, specifically cooking. Though Nonoa, on the other hand, just eats her own cooking gingerly.
  • Slice of Life: With a demonic spice. The manga is atypical for a demon-focused storynote , as this is focusing on Nonoa's daily life with her married husband Toneri. No real conflict exists at all, save for Nonoa's hammy attempts at being the Demon Lord of Destruction, of which is only due to her fascination for broken-down things, as seen in the Flashback of the first chapter.
  • She Is the King: Nonoa is known as the "Demon Lord", despite being female.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: Inverted. Nonoa has a white hair and is a Demon Lord, but she is not evil, being married to an elementary school teacher.
