Some time ago, a doctor has made 100 attempts called Fabricants in order to create a perfect human being. After the doctor's mysterious demise, the Fabricants have decided to continue his alleged will and seek body parts of high quality for themselves.

Ashibi Yao is a 14-year-old survivor of his family being murdered by the Fabricants, for their blood that can grant eternal youth and longevity. After he promises to give his body to the last Fabricant remaining, No. 100, the last and the strongest of them, destroys the intruders present.

Now, the two travel around the country looking into people's disappearances to hunt down the Fabricants, with No 100 caring about the kid's well-being a lot more than one would expect from a flesh-stealing monster.

Fabricant 100 (Jinzou Ningen 100) is a manga by Daisuke Enoshima, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from December 5, 2022 to September 3, 2023 and compiled into five volumes.

Fabricant 100 contains examples of:

  • Always Chaotic Evil: Ashibi argues that there are no good Fabricants, whatever they say is all an act to get fresh organs easier.
  • Ambiguously Evil: It's heavily implied No. 100 has killed the doctor, as he was disappointed she too wasn't the perfect human he wanted to make. No. 100 goes out of her way to ensure Ashibi is happy, but when asked, she makes it clear it's only business and she's willing to kill him once he's 18. She also knows a lot about Fabricants she's keeping secret from Ashibi.
  • Amplifier Artifact: Mortsafe has No. 99's core; the electricity it gives off is potent enough to boost the latent abilities of any human who has touched it, though with only a 5% survival rate.
  • An Ice Person: No. 99 after being rebuilt has this ability. Similar to No. 100's flames it can spread after coming into contact with its target.
  • Artificial Human: All Fabricants are creations of a Mad Scientist trying to make the "perfect human" until he died, and they've decided to become an Ultimate Lifeform without figuring out if the doctor had any other motives.
  • Attack Its Weak Point: All Fabricants have a crystal heart somewhere in their body. Mortsafe's badges that serve as proof of human identity make these cores glow on contact with a Fabricant. Normally it doesn't matter and No. 100 didn't even know about these cores, but for Fabricants that have stolen Yao flesh, destroying the core is the only way to bypass their regenerative abilities.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: Mortsafe is an anti-Fabricant organization with suits as the standard uniform for their agents.
  • Bad Samaritan: No. 33 raises orphan kids from the streets, only to harvest them once they're 18 and dispose of them. Some of them have figured it out and didn't mind due to their miserable background, but he was unable to figure out why are they thanking him.
  • The Berserker: Subverted. Ashibi tries to charge in recklessly like a berserker once his Healing Factor has been enhanced, but it's pointed out that he lacks the fighting experience or body to make it work.
  • Big Bad: The Doctor's assistant, Fabricant No. 1, is the one who helps other Fabricants complete their Organ Theft. Being the only one with the special surgical skills and personally knowing all others, Mortsafe believes if he's taken down, the Fabricants will have no reason to hunt humans.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Leaning on sweet. No. 100 sacrifices herself to kill No. 1, ensuring that Fabricants cannot improve themselves anymore, and in the process she becomes an "ideal human" in her own twisted way. Over the next three years, Mortisafe kills off the last remaining Fabricants, and they celebrate Ashibi's 18th birthday. However, he mourns Ayako and even No. 100, as while in the end she was unable to feel anything for him, he is able to live on to remember her and heal.
  • Blown Across the Room: A human got shot by the No. 33 with enough force to fly from the mansion to a downhill road on a straight line.
  • Can't Kill You, Still Need You: The reason why Ashibi is still alive is that the power of Yao's blood won't fully work until he's 18, so Fabricants like No. 100 would have to keep him around and harvest him later. He exploits this in one case by grappling No. 33 with a blindfold and warning him that he might die if he's thrown off after getting kicked earlier.
  • Caught on Tape: Luka invites Ashibi to another room while questioning No. 100 on camera. With her contractor away, she shows knowledge of stopping all Fabricants at once by taking down No. 1, but withheld that information from Ashibi because she doesn't care about human victims, and she needs No. 1's help to take Ashibi's body. Despite this, he still trusts her, as at least she'll act predictably.
  • Chilly Reception: The major Mortsafe agents don't take well to Ashibi joining their organization for different reasons, though Hugo claims it's the general attitude for accepting new combatants.
Hugo: Sorry I had such a lousy attitude toward you. But nobody in Mortsafe welcomes new recruits. Not with open arms.
    • Luka thinks Ashibi is Just a Kid and wants him to live a safe, happy life instead of being an active combatant with No. 100 as a constant, potential threat. He doesn't like the decision but remains a friendly face.
Luka: Well, I personally don't want you enlisting, so I'm not going to give you any advice. But good luck.
    • Mortsafe's leader believes that Ashibi is kindhearted enough to still show empathy towards Fabricants and sends him on a special mission to eliminate a Fabricant who is partnered with a human before allowing him to join.
    • Hugo dislikes Ashibi at first because Hugo himself is a Cowardly Lion and assumes Ashibi is just going to hide behind No. 100. He changes his tune once he witnesses Ashibi risk his own life against No. 33.
    • Ayako dislikes the Martyr Without a Cause behavior she sees from him. When she outright tells him this, Ashibi doesn't see a problem after reflecting over it due to not having any family left.
  • Compelling Voice: Roxy's singing voice, or rather, her Fabricant partner's, makes some visitors of her plays commit suicide behind the theater, where their organs can be harvested. It has a low enough hit rate to get only about one victim at a time, but is strong enough that anyone who watches her play in full is a potential target.
  • Cowardly Lion: Hugo admits to Ashibi about being afraid every time he faces a Fabricant, but he's still willing to step up to the fight.
Hugo: Unlike [Ashibi], I've never had to overcome a suffering that's greater than the possibility of dying. I'm afraid every single time I fight a Fabricant. Every time I'm injured, I question why I even enlisted. But... If someone has to be subjected to those kinds of emotions, I rather it be me.
  • Cut Lex Luthor a Check: Despite not being a Fabricant, Roxy is fine with being an assistant to a Fabricant serial killer and even sympathizes with her, as long she herself can be on stage. When asked by Ashibi why couldn't she try anything else with her beauty, she replies she finds nothing wrong in pursuing her dream. Still, Ashibi makes it clear she's not a target and she realizes their wrongdoings before dying.
  • Cut Short: The manga was cancelled after 36 chapters due to low popularity rankings in Shonen Jump's reader polls.
  • Deal with the Devil: When the rest of the Yao family were slaughtered by Fabricants, Ashibi made an open offer to surrender his body to one when he turns 18 on the condition that all the Fabricants are wiped out. No. 100 accepted and has been taking care of him since.
  • Death by Origin Story: The Yao family being killed by Fabricants and Ashibi's sister shielding him with a smile on her face knowing that he wasn't hurt is what gave him the will to partner up with No. 100 and hunt down the other Fabricants to prevent anyone else from suffering his tragedy.
  • Death Equals Redemption:
    • As Roxy and her Fabricant are bleeding out, the former realizes she has robbed many people of her dreams for the sake of her own, and sings as herself for the first time before passing.
    • As Fabricant No. 33 is dying, they wonder how life would have been if he hadn't harvested the children he raised and imagines them welcoming him home to dinner.
  • Deliberate Injury Gambit: Ashibi gets in front of No. 33's kick to enrage and motivate No. 100.
  • Die or Fly: No. 100 remembers her Trauma-Induced Amnesia and reawakens her dormant Wreathed in Flames ability after going through the mental shock of being injured by No. 91.
  • Differently Powered Individual: Mortsafe's fighters are humans who can match Fabricants in strength due to their Spark powers. This is attributed to being hit by electricity from Fabricant 99's captured Core. Luka is one of the 5-stars, who can move at such speed that even No. 100 has trouble keeping up if she wants to avoid collateral damage. For Ashibi, his Healing Factor is amplified so any flesh that is cut off comes back.
  • Does Not Know His Own Strength: No. 100 is so physically strong, a pen disintegrates when she takes it.
  • Drives Like Crazy: Luka uses his Spark to drive and turn at such high speeds that to Ashibi, it looks as if they're teleporting around the town.
  • Dude Magnet: Ayako has a few guys cheering her on during training sessions and Ashibi immediately calls her cute at first sight while forcing No. 100 to apologize for saying otherwise.
  • Encounter Bait: Ashibi's body is so high-quality to Fabricants that the mere scent of his blood is enough to drive them into going after him above any other priority.
  • Evil Is Not a Toy: Luka believes that No. 100 can't be controlled and spends his first appearance attempting to expose her true colors to convince Ashibi.
  • Exotic Eye Designs: No. 33 has rice-shaped lines coming from his pupils.
  • Eye Scream: No. 12 stole eyes of a man's fiancé for himself. 100 cleanly retrieves them from his eyesockets with her hand.
  • The Fake Cutie: Ayako plays up her innocence which has the guys eating out of her hand while her inner thoughts are rude and the opposite of what she's saying. This gets her labeled as two-faced by No. 100 and Minmin who aren't falling for it.
  • Femme Fatalons: No. 100 has sharp nails she can use as claws.
  • Fingore:
    • Hugo calmly severs Ashibi's finger to demonstrate how his Healing Factor had been enhanced by touching No. 99's core, with the finger reattaching itself right after.
    • No. 100 ends up losing her left hand's fingers to the Razor Wind from No. 91's hand strike.
  • Gotta Kill Them All: Ashibi's stated goal is to make No. 100 kill the other 99 Fabricants, with at least 7 already killed in the flashback. By the end of the first chapter, 82 remain as far as he's aware.
  • Healing Factor: Carriers of Yao blood heal any injuries quickly, which include Ashibi and any Fabricant that has escaped with a flesh of his family.
  • Honor Before Reason: Ashibi calls Hugo a "cheater" because he's not giving the info on the No. 33, banking on his young age and lawful personality, resulting in Hugo spilling most of what he knows.
  • How Did You Know? I Didn't: When the Shapeshifter Fabricant asks how Kugui knew they weren't Ayako, he responds that he would have cut down either one.
  • Human All Along:
    • Ashibi thinks Luka is another Fabricant out to capture him until he notices the lack of scars.
    • Ashibi was prepared to take down Roxy assuming she's a Fabricant. She's only an accomplice, and Mortsafe knew about it, but wanted him to experience facing human enemies and how Fabricants treat them. Her not having stitches is an early hint.
  • Hunter of His Own Kind: No. 100 sees no issue killing other Fabricants as long as that's what Ashibi wants, which also means less competition for her.
  • Improvised Zipline: No. 100 makes a zipline using beef guts and bones to go over a crowded marketplace and catches up to Luka by surprising him with the tactic.
  • In the Back: Roxy's beloved Fabricant partner stabs her through the back to sneak attack No. 100 after just a whiff of Ashibi's blood. It serves to highlight how a Fabricant can only ever think of perfecting their body.
  • Kid with the Leash: No. 100 is Ashibi's caretaker and she fights other Fabricants for him on the condition that he surrenders his body to her when he's 18. While Ashibi is able to take the lead because of this arrangement, he also learns over time that Fabricants only truly care for perfecting themselves and that he has to expect the same of No. 100.
  • Lack of Empathy: Despite having a sister-like bond, being each other's Secret-Keeper for three years, and understanding each other's motives, Roxy's Fabricant partner stabs her in the back to sneak attack No. 100 the moment she sniffs Ashibi's blood, further proving that Fabricants can't live with humans.
    • When No. 100 discovers Ashibi no longer has his Healing Factor that came from his family's genes she immediately abandons him. She's fully aware of this, but decides in her own twisted way to become the ideal human inspired by Ashibi to kill No. 1 with herself.
    • It turns out this was the very reason the Doctor considered the Fabricants all failures because his true reason for creating them in the first place was trying to reincarnate the townspeople in bodies that would be able to survive war trying to atone for indirectly causing their deaths. However, due to his own lack of empathy, the Doctor could never replicate the empathy said townspeople had.
  • Let's You and Him Fight: During the tragedy, Ashibi brings up to Fabricants that he's too young to be harvested and there's only one of him. While it was quicker than he's expected, one Fabricant killed all others present and became his bodyguard.
  • Lightning Can Do Anything: The electricity in a Fabricant's core is what gives them life, and that same electricity from Fabricant 99's core is what boosts a Mortsafe agent's innate ability to become a Spark power.
  • Literal Disarming: Kugui and No. 100 disable some human bandits by cutting off their gun hand.
  • Logical Weakness: As Roxy's Fabricant's power works if a human listens to her singing for a long time, No. 100 makes a deafening scream and interrupts the effect.
  • Long-Lived: The Yao family is known for having an unnatural lifespan, living to the age of at least 110 while still looking 30. This is the primary reason Fabricants target them.
  • MacGuffin Super-Person: Ashibi is of the long-lived Yao bloodline and his body is valuable enough to Fabricants that the scent of his blood will draw any nearby ones to him. Hugo's inner thoughts also reflect that Ashibi must be very special for No. 100 to want his flesh. Since he agreed to give his body to No. 100 when he turns 18, his allegiance also means having the strength of the strongest known Fabricant with him.
  • Magic Is a Monster Magnet: Ashibi's superior Yao blood attracts nearby Fabricants if he scratches his arm with a sharp ring or bites himself. At this point, they can't leave even if they want to until they capture Ashibi. For No. 100 it instead works like an SOS signal.
  • Martyr Without a Cause:
    • After Ashibi's family was killed, his sole purpose has been to hunt down Fabricants without consideration of a normal life or his own safety. This is reflected in how he cuts his own arm to trigger his Self-Harm–Induced Superpower and Healing Factor.
    • Kugui is introduced saying he would cut down his own sister, Ayako, when she's suspected of being a traitor because who wouldn't give their own life for the cause? When a hostage-taker tells him to smash his own eyes in if he wants to take the hostage's place, Ashibi believes he would have done it.
  • Mix-and-Match Man: Fabricants can be identified by the stitches on their bodies that come from their Frankenstien-like creation. It's not helped by them continuing to upgrade their body parts.
  • Mood Whiplash: A lot of comedy comes from No. 100, the strongest monster, out of concern about her target's health, frquently acting like an overprotective mom.
  • Motivational Lie: Ashibi gives No. 100 the motivated strength to split part of a lake by writing that he grew 1 cm.
  • The Needs of the Many: The leader of Mortsafe disregards Roxy's death during Ashibi's test on the basis that as a criminal, her life is less valuable than other humans, and that it's worth it to know Ashibi is ready to face Fabricants.
  • Never Hurt an Innocent: While No. 100 has promised Ashibi to never take anyone's organs, Mortsafe agrees to ignore her only for as long as no human is hurt during their Fabricant hunts.
  • No-Harm Requirement: Part of No. 100's deal with Ashibi is that she is not to harm humans, something that other characters attempt to exploit.
    • Luka wants to prove that she won't uphold it and deliberately takes Ashibi near a crowded marketplace to show how she would get him back.
    • Roxy uses herself as a Human Shield, but No. 100 simply smacks them out of the way which Ashibi seems to accept since she allied herself with a Fabricant.
  • No Name Given: The Lungs and Throat Fabricants are defeated without their designation number revealed.
  • Non-Action Big Bad: Being the first Fabricant, No. 1 is the weakest of all of them. But he's also the most important because he was the doctor's assistant, and inherited the techniques for improving other Fabricants.
  • Not So Above It All: Ashibi assumed No. 1 was above the obsession with the perfect human the others had, however, he still has it, just in a different way: while the other Fabricants seek to become the perfect human, No. 1 wants to create the perfect human using the other Fabricants.
  • Not So Invincible After All: No. 100 had been treated as the strongest Fabricant until she goes up against No .91 and is physically outmatched. The mere realization that she's been injured is enough for her to believe that she's no longer in a position to become the perfect human and flashback to her suppressed memories.
    • Ashibi's Healing Factor is revealed to be limited by Mortsafe's leader in a flashback. If he's injured enough, eventually the genes that make his family long-lived will run its course and he'll heal like a normal person. Which also means that he'll have no leverage with No. 100.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: The personality of a fussy and clumsy caretaker that No. 100 displays when around Ashibi is intent on nothing but keeping him safe, satisfied, and amenable to her. The moment he is out of sight, or that something that actually interferes with what she wants happens, she will drop the act and act like the predatorial, self-serving, and dangerous Fabricant she is.
  • One Person, One Power: All Fabricants have one organ they can bring out special abilities from.
  • Oppose What You Suffered: Ashibi wants to destroy all Fabricants more so that nobody would suffer the loss of their family like he did, than out of revenge.
  • The Order: Mortsafe is a human organization that is described as an Anti-Fabricant group. It's not said how many Fabricants they've already defeated, if any, but if Luca is of any indication, their fighters are capable of it.
  • Organ Theft: A MO for Fabricants is to kidnap humans and steal their high-grade body parts, normally killing the unfortunate. Some keep kids with them until they grow up.
  • Overdrawn at the Blood Bank: Ashibi's Blood Blocking Veil technique has him deliberately losing enough blood to surround and cut off his opponent's vision.
  • Overly-Nervous Flop Sweat: No. 100 is easily embarrassed by Ashibi and sweats bullets every time he comments on her immature behavior, though he thinks it's just a tactic to reduce his stress.
  • Parrying Bullets: Hugo, one of the weakest in Mortsafe, can slap bullets away with his bare hand.
  • Power Levels:
    • Fabricant's strength is considered to strictly correspond to their creation order, from weakest to strongest, as the oldest Fabricants have inferior bodies and are fine targeting weaker humans.
    • Mortsafe has "star ranks" from 1 to 5 corresponding to every 20 Fabricant numbers they can match with. Hugo is 1 star and Luka is 5, meaning Luka is considered to be stronger than Fabricant 80.
  • Pulling Themselves Together: The particular brand of Healing Factor Yao flesh offers when enhanced is reversing injuries and reattaching body parts.
  • Required Secondary Powers:
    • Averted with No. 33. His enhanced eyesight lets him track Hugo's Super-Speed, but the rest of his body isn't fast enough to react in time to a surprise approach.
    • Averted for No. 100. Their Wreathed in Flames power uses their body as fuel and noticeably leaves their hand charred after using it.
  • Secondary Character Title: Fabricant No. 100 is the Deuteragonist of the story and Ashibi Yao's bodyguard, despite also being his enemy.
  • Self-Harm–Induced Superpower
    • Ashibi has minor Healing Factor from being of the Yao bloodline, so he uses it in two ways:
      • Since his body is so valuable to Fabricants, he's able to cut his arm to lure them in with the scent of his blood and they're instinctively unable to leave until they've captured him. Since No. 100 considers Ashibi hers, the blood is effectively an SOS beacon for her.
      • After his Healing Factor is amped up to reversing injuries, he deliberately loses enough blood in fights to surround and block off his opponent's vision.
    • No. 100 has Wreathed in Flames powers, but the user's body is burned as fuel for the fire.
  • Shapeshifter Guilt Trip: The Shapeshifter Fabricant lures in humans by transforming them into their loved ones.
    • Kugui doesn't hesitate when it takes Ayako's appearance because he's resolved himself to cutting her down whether she was the real or fake.
    • Ayako does hesitate when it takes Kugui's appearance despite her own talk of valuing her life more in self-defense.
  • The Show Must Go On: Ashibi and No. 100 fail to assassinate Roxy before the start of the play, so it moves to Ashibi having to fight her on-stage with the audience none the wiser.
  • Smart People Play Chess: Subverted. Ashibi sees the chessboard in the Mortsafe leader's room and assumes she respects intelligence, but the board is there for her to showcase the predictability and control that she wants as The Chessmaster.
  • Sole Survivor: Ashibi Yao is the only survivor of the Yao family massacre.
  • Starter Villain: No. 12 is the enemy Fabricant of the first chapter and is killed effortlessly without getting to use his enhanced legs for combat.
  • Super-Breath: The Lung Fabricant can use his superior breathing to stay underwater and create massive air bubbles.
  • Super-Senses:
    • No. 33's special ability is to see the true structure of objects, which allows his to scout body parts efficiently, snipe across the forest and some close-range combat skills.
    • Ayako has enhanced eyesight and her Oculus Prison technique lets her cut down anything in the 2-meter radius around her.
    • Kugui is Ayako's older brother and shares the same enhanced eyesight and Oculus Prison technique.
  • Super-Speed:
    • Luka moves at Flash Step speeds to Ashibi and No. 100. Since he's also able to affect the car he's driving, Ashibi suspects some form of Time Master ability.
    • Hugo is similarly able to Flash Step Ashibi and his speed is such that he can slap bullets away and move faster than No. 33 can react despite the latter's enhanced eyesight. However, he allows himself to be carried by Luka when they're running away from No. 100.
  • Super-Strength
    • No. 100 is the strongest Fabricant with feats of strength like punching a lake hard enough to send Ashibi and the Fabricant holding him up out of the water or flicking a pebble uphill to blind a Fabricant rifleman. During the fight with Roxy, she bemoans not being able to just destroy the building because of all the people there.
    • A simple downward strike of Minmin's nunchucks is enough to shoot up chunks of the Earth and has Ashibi wondering if she's as strong as No. 100.
    • No. 91 has enhanced arms and is able to slice through a building with the Razor Wind from his bare hand and take No. 100's fingers with it. He is also physically superior to No. 100 with the modifications No. 1 enhanced him with.
  • Uninhibited Muscle Power: Fabricants are naturally stronger than humans, and they can push the strengths of the stolen organs to supernatural limits.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: While No. 100 is physically the strongest, she doesn't have any unique abilities, which puts her at disavantage against weaker Fabricants who utilize tactics and superpowers.
  • Unwanted Rescue: Luka initially kidnaps Ashibi to give him a chance at a normal life away from No. 100. Ashibi refuses since he's already resolved to hunt down the Fabricants and draws his own blood to have No. 100 rescue him back.
  • You Are Number 6: All Fabricants are numbered and named in the order they are created, from 1 to 100, with a corresponding tattoo somewhere on their body. The tattoo manifests even if the body part with it is replaced.
  • Ventriloquism: The singer Roxy has no singing voice, the Fabricant she's partnered with sings behind the stage.
  • Villain: Exit, Stage Left: Justified. No. 1 is the only one who can augment Fabricants with new parts, so No. 100 allows him to escape and even saves his life against a vengeful No. 91.
  • Villain Forgot to Level Grind: An unusual protagonist example, because No. 100 was built to be the strongest Fabricant, but she finds herself overpowered by No. 91 because he had been improved with grafted parts while she remained at her original level.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: Roxy is an acclaimed theater singer, but unbeknownst to the public she's a Fabricant's accomplice who charms people to suicide.
  • Wake-Up Call Boss: No. 33 is one of the few who've managed to escape the mansion with a body part of a Yao family member. Despite his relatively low number, he's the first one to be as strong as No. 100 and to show regenerative abilities, which other Yao Fabricants are said to share.
  • What the Hell, Hero?:
    • Luka takes Ashibi through a crowded marketplace to show that No. 100 would be willing to hurt people in her pursuit. Hugo raises some concern over what he's doing and remains concerned when Luka flashes a Grin of Audacity instead of explaining how he'll let Ashibi go before a civilian gets hurt.
    • Luka calls out Mortsafe's leader for sending Ashibi to eliminate Roxy since it resulted in her death, a human child's, and says it could have been handled better without that result.
  • What You Are in the Dark: Invoked. No. 100 is questioned by Luka while he has Ashibi watching through a hidden camera and she drops her overbearing parent facade with sudden Hidden Eyes and shaky horror-esque text font.
  • World's Strongest Man: As the last one made, No. 100 is considered the most powerful Fabricant in terms of raw power, as she has destroyed several Fabricants at Yao mansion instantly.
  • Wreathed in Flames: No. 100's true ability is to self-ignite, something she had mentally suppressed due to it being a Self-Harm–Induced Superpower until realizing she was Not So Invincible After All against No. 91. Since it burns her own body up, Mortsafe agreed to provide transplants from their fallen to repair her.
