I was just one of millions of fireflies traversing in the vast sea of darkness before she came to me and decided to give me a new fate. That red star…
Miu's opening narration

Cerberus High II is the second book in the Cerberus High series, published on March 15, 2021.

Twenty years after the first book sees a new generation of Cerberus High students as the main characters. The most noteworthy being Kasumi Akai-Amsel, the adopted daughter of Kazuki and Axel, a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed black fox-canid who becomes excited at the prospect of leading life similar to both of her fathers at her age. This sentiment of hers becomes a horrible reality with the return of an old foe and a premonition of the world ending in where all the creatures of the shadows crawl out of the woodwork.

Tropes exclusive to this book or at least especially prominent in it:

  • Abstract Apotheosis: Miu is the physical embodiment of the love between the two Overworld gods Shun Demdagos and Inugami.
  • Attack Reflector: Anyone who tries to break down the Pandora's Box encasing the school would have their attack reflected back on them. Laelaps learns this the hard way when he tries to cut the barrier down with his katana; luckily, Nagisa was there to patch him up.
  • Awful Truth: The fact that everything about Nagisa's character was fabricated since day one, including his love for Kasumi and that his death was used as a means for Red Star's resurrection.
  • Babies Ever After: In the epilogue which takes place 5 months after the ending shows Xiomara finally giving birth to a baby girl named Lumaia.
  • Bad Moon Rising: The night of the crimson moon heralds the end of the world.
  • Black Swords Are Better: The Sword of Supernatural Calamity and the version of it made from Edna and Edgar are black.
  • Cassandra Truth:
    • No one believed Xiomara's doom's day premonition until the night of the red moon finally comes.
    • Those who believe the existence of cryptids are seen as tinfoil-hat-wearing conspiracy theorists.
  • Cell Phones Are Useless: Because of the Pandora's Box encasing the school, making and receiving phone calls is impossible.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The white feather Kasumi relies on to bless her with good dreams at night. Miu is revealed to have given her this years ago which she now uses to protect Kasumi and her friends from being victims of the darkness.
  • Chunky Updraft: The reverberation of Red Star colliding with Seraph Miu's sword with her super star form caused the school below them to levitate and break away.
  • Convenient Slow Dance: Invoked after the final battle when Miu summons a flute and performs a song that the joined hearts of the two gods would sing. Nagisa and Kasumi slow dance to this as their final goodbye and the other couples do so as well.
  • Costume Evolution: All the returning characters from the first book are given maturer outfits to reflect their age.
  • Distant Finale: The epilogue takes place 4 months after the ending.
  • Distant Sequel: Set twenty years after the conclusion of the first book.
  • Dream Weaver: By putting Miu's feather under her pillow every night, Kasumi will be blessed with pleasant dreams. Kasumi absolutely freaked out the moment she thought she lost it.
  • The Fashionista: Ascelin and Laika are shown to have a passion for fashion.
  • The Ghost: Conrad and Oralee are mentioned but never make an appearance in this sequel.
  • Happily Married:
    • Kazuki and Axel.
    • Xiomara and Blanc.
    • Ember and Sherbet.
  • Harassing Phone Call: Elliot disrupts the peace of Kazuki's and Axel's quiet Tuesday morning with a phone call that reveals he's still and is currently planning the end of the world.
  • The Internet: Due to the story being set in 2015, there are some references to the internet here and there.
  • Light/Darkness Juxtaposition:
  • Named Weapon: Sword of Supernatural Calamity.
  • Never Split the Party: When students start being sent to the Sea of Darkness en masse and the main characters are trapped within the school, Ember advises that they stick together at all costs. Kasumi breaks this rule. Twice.
  • The New '10s: The story is set in late 2014 while the Distant Finale takes place in early 2015
  • Numbered Sequels
  • Only the Chosen May Wield: Since Miu embodies the strongest element, her wielding the Sword of Supernatural Calamity is bound to have more devastating effects on the world than if it was someone else.
  • Power of Love: What empowers Miu as she embodies the short-lived love between Shun Demdagos and Inugami.
  • Purgatory and Limbo: The Sea of Darkness is where those who have their existence erased and early versions of Forever-Still Spaces reside.
  • Putting the "Pal" in Principal: Ember and Sherbet are far from being authoritarians as headmaster and deputy headmistress of Cerberus High.
  • Rooftop Confrontation: Kasumi confronts Miu wielding the Sword of Supernatural Calamity on the school's rooftop after telepathically hearing her cries for the second time in the night.
  • Saving the World: The main goal for our characters.
  • Show Within a Show: Resolute Blood is an anime that Laelaps and Teumessia are both fans of. No one knows what kind of anime it is.
  • Spin-Offspring: Kazuki's daughter is the main character of this book with Blanc and Xiomara's son Ascelin being a close ally of hers.
  • Superpowered Evil Side: Corrupted Miu and Shadow Kasumi.
  • Zettai Ryouiki: Grade A for Kasumi, Corrupted Miu, and armored Red Star.
