    In General
  • Sullivan's doting on Iruma. While he unethically bought him from his parents, he nevertheless frequently showers Iruma with gifts, affection and attention. Iruma's life with Sullivan is much better than his life back on Earth.
  • Iruma and Ameri's growing relationship. It should be noted that Ameri is the first person to really ask Iruma what he wants out of life, whereas everyone else, even the friendly ones, just have him go along with everything.
    • It's also worth noting that Ameri has known about Iruma's human nature since before she even met him. Everything she's done with Iruma, from encouraging him to find an ambition, to baking cookies, to slowly realizing her crush, it's all happened despite her knowledge that he's either her natural enemy or her natural prey. Love knows no race, indeed.
    • In the small arc beginning at Chapter 178, Iruma is pushed to acknowledge the nature of his relationship with Ameri. Needless to say, the subsequent private dance, tight hug, and Luminescent Blush later implies that Ameri's crush might be more reciprocated than she thought.
  • It's subtle, but it's clear that Kalego considers Balam one of his closest friends (or possibly the only person Kalego would consider a friend), as Balam is the only demon Kalego seems to want to spend time with.

    Anime

Season 1

  • Episode 1:
    • After unwittingly defeating Azz in a match, Azz takes it with stride and indebts himself to Iruma.
  • Episode 3:
    • Iruma befriends Clara after making her realize that he would've been her friend without her having to give him things to make him play with her.
  • Episode 11:
    • Kalego refuses to let his humiliation at being Iruma’s familiar negatively affect Iruma’s grades, and begrudgingly goes along with the embarrassing trust exercises the two of them are required to do for the class.
      • After how the students are supposed to interact with their familiars in the class is revised, Kalego actually seems kind of relaxed for once in his familiar form as Iruma gently brushes his feathers.
  • Episode 19:
    • Somehow despite Kirio revealing himself to be a sociopathic masochist and attempting to commit mass murder, Iruma still can't help but give some of the credit for the fireworks to Kirio.
    • Iruma calling Sullivan and Opera his pride and joy. Opera happily wiggles their ears in response.
  • Episode 20:
    • Kalego decides to create an honorary award that would allow a battler to go up a rank in response to Iruma helping to save the school from Kirio.
    • Henri — figuring out that Iruma was a human — explains that there was a time a human entered the Netherworld and he safely took them back to the human world and erased their memories of the Netherworld, effectively offering him a way out if he wants to leave the Netherworld and return to the human one instead.
      • Along with the above, after meeting Iruma, the first thing that Henri does is check Iruma for any signs of injury or abuse. Despite any eccentricities, first and foremost it's clear his primary concern with Iruma being a human is making sure the boy is safe and not being held against his will/being hurt while there.

Season 2

  • Episode 12
    • Kalego not only keeps the gifts that Clara’s family gives him throughout his string of home visits for the parent teacher meetings he has to do for everyone in the misfit class, but he also appears to get gifts from some of the other students families offscreen, such as a sword from the Garp family, that he just chucks in the bags as he goes along.
      • He could easily dump the gifts at any point and claim they fell or got lost while he was traveling between his students homes and no one would know, so he either actually likes/wants to keep the gifts despite how stressful the home visits are, or at the very least thinks it would be rude to refuse/throw them away.

Season 3

  • Episode 3
    • Crosses over with Awesome, but Iruma impresses Barbatos by making his own unique demonic bow. During the episode, it was revealed that Barbatos tried training several other people to learn creating bows, but she grew disheartened after all of them gave up. However, Iruma mastering this ability gives her hope again.
  • Episode 7
    • Clara traps Iruma using her "Toy Box" ability, turning him into the form of a child so he can enjoy the games and activities in there to the fullest. This is clearly a tactic to keep him distracted during the Harvest Festival. But it's Heartwarming in Hindsight when you remember that Iruma never had the normal experiences of playtime, safety, and fun that most children would usually have. Not only does Clara (unintentionally) give him a safe space to just play and have fun, but also time for the two of them to just have fun since they didn't get to see each other much during training for the Harvest Festival.

    Manga
  • Royal One Arc:
    • When Iruma was affected by a pseudo Wicked Phase by Akired, aside from being more forceful and calculating, he only uses it to improve the class standing instead of the disrespect other students show them. For this goal he does not just want a better classroom, but Royal One — the best classroom of the entire school.
    • Sabro Sabnock's apology to the teacher he tried beating up at the beginning of the school year. What makes this truly heartwarming is that it shows his change from a stubborn prideful demon who refuses to apologize even when his life is at stake to someone who is willing to acknowledge his own wrongdoings and willing to throw it away for the sake of his friends. To truly show its a genuine apology he performs a dogeza which fully shows the roots of his wings which is a sign of respect and sincerity in the demon world.
    • It seems that Kalego won by a technicality in preventing the Misfits from obtaining the Royal One Classroom. As Kalego stated the entire faculty needed to sign not just teachers. Just when all hope seemed lost, the rest of the faculty walks in with stamped approval forms. The reason? Because Iruma, before his wicked phase and continuing still into it, was so kind and helpful to the staff that they came to help. Even during his phase, he still aides the groundskeeper.
  • During the Girl's Talk, Ameri finds herself bonding and becoming friends with Elizabetta, Kerori, and even Clara. They talk about their lives, dreams, and personal hygiene. When the three learn Clara uses plain soap on her whole body, they each will give her some of their higher grade shampoos and conditioners to help Clara out.
  • Eiko's Study Program. When Eiko learns from Azz of Iruma's needing help studying, she works her tail off learning as much as she can for the various subjects to be able to make comprehensive study guides for Iruma. Not only do these help Iruma, though Eiko doesn't meet Iruma to give them to him, her efforts paid off personally as well as she scored in the top 10 of her year. She ends up being one of the most improved students in the year as well. Professor Dali gives her a sincere congratulations.
  • Chapter 68: Kalego's Home Visits.
    • While Clara and most of her family are their usual dominating and hyperactive selves, they all genuinely respect and care about Kalego and feel like they are his students because Clara is his student. They want to learn from him in earnest fashion, though their consideration leaves something to be desired.
    • While Clara's eldest-younger brother Urala is a composed and comported young demon, the exact opposite of his siblings, it is clear being the Black Sheep isn't frowned upon or mocked by his hyperactive siblings. They love him and he loves them, even if they are a hyperactive and inconsiderate.
    • Kalego shows a side of his teaching he doesn't show to the students. He creates notebooks dedicated to each student's actions, activities, and abilities. He studies his students earnestly and looks for the best way for them to become even better demons. He gives tailored suggestions to each one and their parents during their conversations. He even keeps the gifts some of them present him despite being frustrated by their behaviors.
  • The Harvest Festival Arc:
    • After a few weeks of training under their tutors, the Misfits commiserate over their horrible experiences and tough training. While each team thinks they have it worse than the others, they still bond over these hellish experiences.
    • Kalego, in his own Stern Teacher way, purposefully got tutors who could genuinely grow their students into excellent demons capable of reaching Dalet Rank and even winning the Harvest Festival.
    • Despite Agaras finding all the students seeking his domain as a place of sanctuary annoying, he doesn't do anything to force them out. He lets them stay there for several days and even plans to let them escape and hold the line when Kerori's forces are attacking and want to claim the castle he made.
    • Allocer's loyalty to the Misfits and Iruma. After Orobas gets Jazz expelled from the Festival, Allocer spots in Orobas' notebook the other Misfits and realizes his classmates are being targeted. So rather than play to win over the remaining three days, they spend their time gathering information and exploiting the loopholes to allow Allocer to go into the Forfeit Tent without actually forfeiting. When the time comes, he moves in, tells Azz about Orobas targeting Clara to allow him to be a Big Damn Hero to protect Clara and Iruma, and moves to make a fake registration booth so Orobas will deposit the Vase of Endings with him and it not be part of his point count. Now with the rare item worth 20,000 alone, he returns it to Iruma and Leid, allowing them to bring out the Legend Leaf.
    • Iruma winning is not only great for himself, it helps save Orobas as well. After Ocho had used mental magic to make Orobas to use his Trauma power on the Misfits even when Orobas wanted to win on his own, for the goal of making Orobas have a hollow victory and mold him into a pawn Ocho could use to help Baal's plans, Orobas was in a depressed mode even after coming in third. But seeing the joy the Misfits had in two of their own winning makes Orobas realize while he resented the Misfits he also admires their skill and perseverance. And then other students come around him and congratulate him on coming close and doing an excellent job. Even Jazz doesn't hold a grudge as it was all legal and part of the competition.
    • Azz's friendship with Eiko is given a small moment when he is happy to see she survived the whole Harvest Festival without ever giving up.
  • In chapter 158, Iruma, in preparing how he would play the piano sonata as a courting to Lilith in their musical performance with Elizabetta playing the role of Lilith, writes a letter of love for Elizabetta to get into the mind of one of her suitors. In the Volume 18 Omake, it is revealed that this letter wasn't just a blank prop, but a list of things Iruma sincerely likes and respects about his classmate. Elizabetta is so touched, she promises to frame the letter at home, and the final parts reveal she does.
    • Later during Iruma's birthday celebration, it's shown that she actually gave him a letter in return. When Iruma's party was thrown together so last-minute, and all his friends rushed to put together a party and gifts for him, it's sweet to see that the nicest thing she could think to gift him was the same sort of thing that he once gave her.
  • Chapter 160:
    • Kalego, while at times a strict and sadist teacher, genuinely pursues his duties as a teacher to foster his student's mental and practical skills. In Soi's case, Kalego is helping with his musical talent and his independence. When Soi's father cuts him off mid-explanation, Kalego becomes furious and another teacher has to take the phone to give him time to cool down.
    • While Soi has removed himself from the Misfit Class team for the musical competition he didn't return home either, Iruma realizes his classmate is feeling conflicted about his love for music and the friends he has made and his duty to family. Iruma then realizes where his friend is hiding where he truly wants to be: in the very room they are right now. Though they cannot see him, they tell him their feelings and desires for the entire Misfit class to work together in this ordeal.
    • Kalego notes that with Soi's removal from the school entirely he's technically no longer part of the Misfit class, making their job of all reaching rank 4 much easier. Despite demons usually being selfish about such things, not a single member of the misfit class even entertains the idea of having an easier job at the expense of a fellow classmate, and when they realize he might still be in the room they all call out to him to rejoin the class.
  • Chapter 182 has Balam, after an adorable moment where he gently holds Iruma like a doll, learn that everyone has missed Iruma's birthday by several weeks (Iruma's birthday is October 4th, the day this happens is October 25th). He immediately calls Opera with this realization, which causes them very apparent shock and dismay. It's very clear just how immensely they care for Iruma, and thus feel awful for not having known about, and thus missed, his birthday. Leading to...
  • The whole of Chapter 183, which is essentially nearly all of Iruma's friends, teachers, and family he's made in the netherworld coming together to belatedly celebrate his Demonic Rights (the demon version of a birthday party). In which every single one of them give him gifts, and essentially gather to tell him that they're grateful he was born and became a part of their lives. For a boy who, less than a year prior, was sold off to a demon by his own parents for money, and spent the first fourteen years worked like a dog or else just grossly neglected, it's so emotional that it moves Iruma to tears. Here is a list of what Iruma receives from each one present:
    • Azz: A cloak with a mantle.
    • Clara: Family-size snacks and toys.
    • Sabro: Muscle training supplies.
    • Leid: A rare, retro game.
    • Soi: A music appreciation kit.
    • Kamui: Gentleman's cologne.
    • Elizabetta: A love (?) letter.
    • Kerori: A skin care kit for men.
    • Jazz: A pair of earrings.
    • Allocer: A study guide.
    • Garp: A tummy wrap, scarf, handkerchief, and bag of candies.
    • Picero: A pillow.
    • Ameri: A custom-made giant cookie.
    • Opera and Sullivan: A super-huge-cake tower.
    • Kalego: A rose.
    • Balam: A book of Netherworld Biographies.
  • Chapter 224: Iruma is trying to find some motivation and ambition to help him do well in the upcoming Heartbreaker Exam. A pep talk from Ali reminds him of his driving desire that helped him summon his own bow: Iruma wants to be The Hero. So, he has Iruma think of the first years looking up to him as he is defending them from the attacking teachers.
  • Chapter 226:
    • While they are going about it in extreme measures, the teachers discuss the need for this competition amongst themselves. They know the Misfits have potential but are becoming too cocky after their meteoric rise in their first year. So they see it as their duty to help their students by crushing their pride in a demonstration of strength and power against the teachers.
    • When the teachers are discussing the wild rumors about the Misfits, like Iruma having ten girlfriends, and reacting with shock, one teacher notes they have heard Clara is happy and well. Another teacher responds that it is good to hear.
  • Chapter 235: After getting eliminated, Purson couldn't bear to show his face to his teammates. Nikomaru, however, went up to him and used his bloodline ability "Harmony" to give Purson positive emotions. Purson's teammates reassured him that despite getting spotted almost instantly and having both balloons popped, they were glad to be on his team and still think that he's really cool.
  • Chapter 295: After Baal explained to Bachiko and two other candidates that as one of the 13 Crowns they would have absolute control over their territory Bachiko wonders what would she do with that power. The first thing that comes to her mind is creating a place where Iruma could live safely.
  • Chapter 327:
    • Henri Azazel in the last chapter asks Iruma about his feelings towards Ameri. While Ameri is flustered and tries to stop the conversation, Henri demands an answer and Iruma gives one. Ameri, to him, is someone he admires and looks up to. He strives to become closer to her, even as she strives to achieve even more herself. And just seeing her enjoy herself makes him happy as well.
      Iruma: She's a wonderful woman.
      Henri asks for anything else
Iruma: Seeing her smile makes me happy.
    • With those words, Henri flashes back to a woman he cared for deeply himself, who said similar things to Henri like what Iruma says of Ameri. It breaks down his objections to Iruma, with him acknowledging the young man, human or not, is a good kid, and worthy of Ameri. This is ruined in a few moments by learning of Iruma's harem, but that's another Moment.
