Heartwarming / The Witches (2020)

• Two police officers get the boy out of the car wreck that killed his parents. As he starts screaming for his mom and dad, they hug him gently and get him out of the cold.
• Grandmamma does all she can to help the boy deal with his grief. After they talk about it, with Grandmamma saying Life Isn't Fair and gifting him with a white mouse, he starts to smile and dance with her.
• The boy is watching in terror while hiding in the ballroom vents, along with his mouse Daisy who is twitching her nose in terror, as the witches turn Bruno into a mouse. Their first reaction is how are they going to save Bruno? Daisy then says that she's on it and scurries out, prompting the boy to respond, "Did you just talk?!"
• Later, when the boy is turned into a mouse, Daisy rescues him in turn before the High Witch or her cronies can stomp on him. The transformed kids make their way to the safety of the vents, barely avoiding the witch's elongated hands. Once they catch their breath, Daisy explains the situation to the boy-mice, getting Bruno up to speed and explaining to the boy how she got transformed and sold to a pet shop.
• When Grandmamma learns that Daisy was a human girl and her name is actually Mary, her first reaction is why didn't Mary tell them? Given Grandmamma knows about witches and saw her friend transformed, she all but says that she would have adopted Mary as one of her grandkids. Mary appreciates it while explaining that she didn't know who she could trust.
  • When Mary reveals her real name, the boy compliments her by saying it’s pretty, which makes her smile.
• In the end, Grandmamma takes in Bruno and Mary along with her transformed grandson. She jerry-rigs a rollercoaster for them in their house, mouse-sized, and organizes a dance party with him. After seeing Bruno's mother rejected him, it's sweet to see Bruno smiling.
