Heartwarming / The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl

Go To

  • Galactus gives Doreen a Deadpool trading card about him to replace the one that Whiplash destroyed. Awwww.
  • Doreen's interaction with Galactus. She can't beat him physically, but she is the first hero to ever try talking to him and reasoning with him. She beats him by making him her friend.
  • Doreen and Nancy realize that they actually picked a fight with Brain Drain, and repair him. He turns out to have been Brainwashed and Crazy due to antiquated, malfunctioning parts, and Doreen and Nancy (with a little assist from Doreen's mother) help him get his life back on track.
  • From the second issue six: Kraven declares that, however else he might've compromised his principles, he will not harm Doreen, as she has his respect—and moreover, apologizes for not living up to that declaration earlier in the issue.
  • After Tippy gets fatally wounded trying to save Doreen from her Evil Twin (indirectly rescuing all of the heroes from the Negative Zone), Doreen convinces all of Marvel's heroes to help her fix the squirrel. And they do because Tippy is Squirrel Girl's friend.
  • Doreen convinces the Rhino to take back a pair of sneakers he stole and convinced him that he isn't the dumb brute that is his namesake.
  • Tony's heartfelt speech to Doreen over twitter shows that he genuinely values their friendship, when most heroes only share a pleasant working relationship with her.
Anyway. Don't feel bad that you trusted someone. That's what you DO, Squirrel Girl. What are you gonna do, not trust anyone?
That's a horrible way to live your life. And it's not you.
You did nothing wrong. And if there's anything I can do to help, you just let me know.
I may be a disembodied AI in a computer now but I still know who my friends are.
    • During "Hypertime" Doreen and Nancy continually abuse Tony's tech and property, leaving sticky notes to the effect of "but it's totally okay, right?" on his suit. Tony muses that this sort of thing never happened before he met Doreen... then he smiles because this sort of thing never happened before he met Doreen.
  • Brain Drain's stopping Spider-Man with "the brutal truth of the cosmos" in issue #35, which convinces Spidey to give Kraven a chance to redeem himself. It's more cheerful than it sounds.
  • Ratatoskr was originally one of the few villains Doreen didn't redeem. She returns in the War of the Nine Realms arc, however, where she actually teams up with Doreen. Originally she only joins because she wanted to beat up giants, but, after a short fight (vaguely reminiscent of a breakup), she rethinks her life and joins up with Doreen's ideals for real. In the aftermath, she becomes a reporter who works on exposing corruption in governments.
  • When Brain Drain goes missing, Doreen gets a bunch of weird messages, only a black picture. When Nancy points out that the two might be connected, Doreen is about to blame herself for being unobservant... Until Nancy stops her, as she doesn't want any "self-recriminations allowed".
