Even among the supernatural horror, extreme Dysfunctional Family, and other hard to stomach insanity, there are moments of genuine love and tenderness.
A Midnight Dreary
  • A young Madeline being concerned over a young Roderick's foot injury. Similarly, she shoots a Death Glare at Longfellow for being physically aggressive to her mother.
  • Among the distrust that runs rampant among the Usher siblings, Leo and Camille are the only two with a somewhat functioning relationship. Camille even smiles sincerely at Leo's quips during the family dinner, which is a lot considering what kind of person she is.

The Masque Of The Red Death

  • While it may be warped and somewhat messed-up, Leo gives Perry genuine (if still, very irresponsible) advice on how to make in their cutthroat family. In essence, Leo tells his little brother to be himself. He then gives Perry some Viagra for his party, despite earlier denying it.
  • Verna takes the time to warn the wait staff and Morella to go into hiding before the acid rain hits.
  • Madeline has been shown to be a ruthless, cold-hearted woman, even keeping up a stern face with her nieces and nephews. That being said, she's nothing but a smiling and warm Cool Great Aunt to Lenore. She even nicknames her "Love".

Murder In The Rue Morgue

The Black Cat

  • Leo's entire grief over Camille's death. As the previous episode showed, despite the family issues, the two had a genuine sibling bond.
  • While Leo has many flaws, it's implied that he keeps his promise of helping the cat shelter. Also, the end of the episode shows that he never really killed Pluto.

The Tell Tale Heart

  • When Auguste admits to their being no actual informant, Roderick begins to blame all of his family misfortunes on the former. Then, he gets a glimpse of Vic's dead body in the same chair that the prosecutor is in. After the initial shock wears off, Roderick genuinely tells Auguste that the deaths of his children are not the latter's fault.
    • Similarly, Auguste makes it known that he never intended for any of Roderick's children to die.
  • In a previous episode flashback, Annabel truthfully tells a young Roderick that she doesn't like Madeline. However, when the latter woman discloses on what the slimy, sexist Griswold said, the former woman comes to latter's defense: No judgement, no "you deserve it", no silence. Just showing her honest solidarity with her sister-in-law.

The Raven

  • Verna getting to show tenderness and mercy in her conversations with Lenore and Pym, the former being an innocent she didn't want to reap, and the latter being someone who chooses to take his consequences instead of her deal.
  • Auguste survives the titular fall and finally gets to see that Roderick's misdeeds will be rectified with time. After all these years, he can finally leave the past behind and retire to spend more time with his loving family.
