  • Whenever Walter accounts for Paige's part of the mission, he thinks of her as a mother first, because Ralph doesn't have anyone else, and as his colleague second.

    Episode 1: Pilot

  • When tiny!Walter gets arrested for hacking NASA, he is wearing the cutest fuzzy sweater with a rocket ship actually on it.
  • Walter's immediate connection with Ralph. He starts to play chess with him and there's this moment where Walter actually asks Ralph for a move in a really paternal way, and then Mama Bear Paige comes on the scene and it's heartwarming to see her defend her son against the stranger taking an interest in her baby, and Walter hints to her that Ralph is more than he seems.
Paige: Excuse me, can I help you?
Walter: No, but you should help him.
Walter, to the owner: Your wireless is up. And don't yell at that boy.
  • May be mixed with Foreshadowing: when Walter comes to Paige's apartment at the end of the episode to offer her a job, Ralph is wearing a set of pyjamas with a strikingly similar design to little!Walter's sweater.

    Episode 12: Dominoes
  • Paige trying to calm Owen down by talking about what he and his family do for Christmas. Especially considering that, according to Toby, calming Owen might actually save his life.
  • The last few scenes. Team Scorpion helps rescue Owen (the boy trapped in the cave), who is then reunited with his family. This inspires Happy to reconcile with the Disappeared Dad who abandoned her at two. Then, the whole team spends Christmas together like a familynote , Scorpion style: the four main characters build Ralph a Rube Goldberg Device as a Christmas present.

    Episode 14: Charades
  • Walter explaining to Paige that love is a ludicrous concept that doesn't exist, that it's ridiculous to think one person could impact on another's emotions...all the while standing over a sleeping Ralph on the sofa, absently stroking his hair.

     Episode 15: Forget Me Nots
  • When faced with the possibility that Ralph and Paige might move to Portland, Maine, Walter manages to avoid shutting down in the face of strong emotions, but works through them to tell Paige that she and Ralph are important parts of his life, that he wants to be a father figure to Ralph, and that he'd miss them if they moved. Not bad for a guy who insists he has no emotions.

Episode 22: Postcards from the Edge
  • Again, the last few scenes. After team Scorpion is shattered in "Cliffhanger", the attempt to rescue Walter after his near-fatal car accident brings everyone back together. As the episode ends, they realize that they all need each other and decide to remain a team. Oh, and Paige doesn't quite do an Anguished Declaration of Love with Walter, but she comes really close.

Episode 33: The Old College Try
  • While working undercover at a college Cabe meets and befriends a campus police cadet that tells him he has dreamed of being a policeman like his dad and being able to slap the cuffs on a criminal. Towards the end of the episode, this same cadet helps Scorpion capture the Villain of the Week by distracting him and phoning his location to Scorpion, and Cabe thanks him by letting him live his dream and put the cuffs on him.
  • Walter works on an experiment that will prove that it wasn't Ray's fault his old partner and best friend Danny died. Ray is shown to have discovered the tank and the test proves that the air tank was defective, proving that it was an accident his friend died. Ray is so happy he cries Tears of Joy and hugs Walter, saying he never thought he'd have another friend like Danny and gains the confidence to go back out into the world like Walter wanted him to.

     Episode 50: Little Boy Lost
  • Ralph is shown at the beginning of the episode to help a non-verbal autistic classmate named Daniel when he is having trouble with his tablet. It is good to see that Ralph is making progress with other people and slowly making friends, especially with people that need it as much as him.
    • Later, Daniel's mother Jill says that this isn't the first time Ralph has helped Daniel out, and that Ralph is the only kid to try and befriend Daniel. Jill has nothing but praise for Ralph, and tells Paige that she's grateful for Ralph's kindness.
  • Daniel sends Scorpion a message at the end of the episode to thank them for saving his life and treating him like a normal person. He says that he has always felt alone and like an outsider because of his autism, but Scorpion shows that if outsiders like themselves work together they can do anything.

Episode 53: We're Gonna Need a Bigger Vote
  • Happy discovers that she's not pregnant and tells Toby that she was really looking forward to waiting for her kids after a school day, since she was denied that in her childhood. Toby reassures her that day will come, and then proposes to her again. This time, she accepts.

Episode 56: This Is the Pits
  • A woman swerves to avoid a kid on a bike and ends up sunk in the LaBrea Tarpits. Toby leads her distraught husband away so she can stay calm and save oxygen, and he talks about what a horrible cheater he was before they met and how glad he is that she gave him a chance to be someone better. Later, his words inspire Paige to give her mother another chance.
  • Ralph and Veronica making a huge profit on the cookies Ralph had to sell for class by convincing hipsters they're organic Peruvian cookies. When Ralph isn't happy with this, they end up giving the money to Sylvester as a campaign donation.
  • Veronica has been feeding Walter information designed to help him "win" Paige: her favourite childhood movie, that she used to like grunge, that she likes the scent of rosemary. At the end of the episode, Walter puts his foot down; he's not going to con Paige into choosing him, because if she found out she'd be hurt. Veronica says that makes her want Walter to end up with Paige even more.

     Episode 57: Wreck The Halls
  • Toby obsessively trying to prepare a perfect Christmas for Happy, to make up for the crappy ones she had as a child. Her present - a build-it-yourself toy robot she wanted as a child, that he had to track down bit by bit - gets shot up when the cabin is stormed, but Happy is still delighted with it (especially since she can now build it herself).
    • Happy's present to Toby; a key fob with her picture, with a button that plays a recording of her saying "attaboy." She explains that she's unable to give him the positive feedback he needs, so whenever he needs to, he can press the button, hear an "attaboy" and know she means it.
  • Cade's gift to Ralph: his pocket knife, the one Ralph used earlier to escape a kidnapper. Paige isn't sure, but Cabe tells her it's the same knife his grandfather gave to him, and that he planned to give to his own grandson one day. Faced with such pro-level dirty fighting, Paige gives in.

Episode 63: Dirty Seeds Done Dirt Cheap
  • The team gets exposed to fungus which causes hallucinations that show them their worst fears. For Happy, that was reliving her childhood being rejected by foster families, which culminates in her ultimate fear: the possibility that Toby would reject her. Toby manages to talk her out enough to repair the generator needed to get to her by saying that he would have fallen in love with her if they met as children. The episode ends with Happy having a dream where she and Toby actually met as children:
Child Toby: I like your pigtails. Did you know the term "pigtail" comes from a twist of chewing tobacco?
Child Happy: Just shut up and you can hold my hand.
    Child Toby: Offer accepted.
Episode 64: Don't Burst My Bubble
  • After the group saves Happy's friend Ada (who has a severe immunodeficiency that could kill her if she so much as leaves her bubble without protection), they give her a set of goggles while Toby wears cameras, allowing her to feel like she's dancing at the high school dance with Sylvester.
Episode 69: Something Burrowed, Something Blew
  • Happy and Toby's wedding. While they missed the original ceremony, Paige manages to organize an impromptu ceremony at a parking lot performed by Ray. Since her father can't do it, Happy asks Cabe to walk her down the aisle. When it comes time for the vows, Toby, who had written what Paige described as War and Peace, is so overcome with emotion that all he can stammer out is "I love you". So Happy takes a shot:
Happy: I'm a mechanical genius, which means I understand in my mind and my heart how parts work together. That's why I love machines. Bolt and a wrench, chain and a gear, they just made sense to me, they fit. For a long time, I didn't feel like I fit anywhere, until I met you. And I knew then, just like I know how to assemble engines, that you and me, Toby, we fit. You're my home.
Episode 78: Go With The Flo(rence)
  • A terrorist hacks a weapons satellite, and then flushes the key fob that generates the passwords. Happy flushes the "Attaboy" keyring she gave Toby, so they can track its GPS chip and hopefully find the password fob. The "Attaboy" gets destroyed in the process, so at the end of the episode she presents Toby with a shiny new one.
    • Why does the "Attaboy" have GPS? In case Toby gets kidnapped again. Mark Collins is at large and Happy's not taking any chances.
Episode 82: Who Let the Dog Out ('Cause Now it's Stuck in a Cistern)
  • The gang are trying to listen in on Cabe's trial when they happen across a police radio broadcast about a trapped dog, and promptly decide to help. As Walter and Happy rush off for equipment, Paige questions the wisdom of the plan, until Toby explains: they're scared and frustrated, unable to help Cabe, and saving the dog is something they can make better. His sheer joy and relief as he explains this is palpable.
Toby: We're getting that hound outta the ground!
    • After they rescue the dog, Walter gives it a hug and thanks it "for being the thing we could fix today."
  • The Running Gag of Paige defusing angry or uncooperative people by showing them pictures of the dog. The construction worker Happy and Toby stole materials from, Florence, and the agent who might replace Cabe all succumb to the big brown eyes.
     Episode 84: The Bunker Games
  • The gang meet Toby's ex-fiancĂ©e, Amy, and she's Happy's worst nightmare: charming, feminine, looks like a model. She's also a genuinely nice person, and quickly realises why Happy's so grouchy with her: seeing the woman Toby wanted first, she's decided she's his "consolation pick." Amy quickly relieves her of this notion, explaining that the glamorous honeymoon photos were staged, they went to that country because her husband had a conference there and he worked the whole time: she comes second to his work, just as she used to come second to Toby's gambling.
    Happy: Toby doesn't gamble anymore.
    Amy: He gave up? Why?
Happy: Because I'd have walked if he hadn't.
Amy: See? He wouldn't do that for a consolation pick.
Episode 93: Kenny and the Jets
  • While Paige climbs into the plane's wheel well, risking her life and injuring herself to save Kenny, Kenny's father holds onto Ralph through the turbulent landing.
Kenny's Father: His mom is saving my son, I'm looking after him.
    • Later, as Kenny is being loaded into an ambulance, the two parents thank each other for looking after their kids.
Episode 94: A Lie in the Sand
  • Before the multiple Tearjerker that is the final act, we're treated to a beautiful moment between Happy and Toby. It's been established that they're preparing to go through another round of fertility treatments, but during the episode Happy has an epiphany: there are plenty of parentless children out there, hoping for a family just like she used to, and she'd rather adopt one of them. Toby responds that, of all the crazy, awesome ideas he's heard in the garage, that's the best.
Happy: I was thinking about Cala. About her being three, alone, with no family. Same as me when I was three. But then those people gave her a family. When I was a kid I wished every day for a family to adopt me. To make me theirs, and they could be mine. But that never happened. No one wanted me. Right now there is a kid somewhere wishing for a family. They could be ours. We could be theirs. I want to make our dream come true by making a kid's dream come true... . You cool with that?
Toby: In all my years here... all the thoughts and theories and plans that we've devised in this garage... that is the best idea I've ever heard.
