The City that rises from hell might be home to psychotic criminals, corrupt officers, eldritch black rings and all sorts of nasty figures, but one would be surprised to learn that behind many of these ruthless outlaws and violence, lies genuine humanity and heroism within there...

Main Story

  • The Chief shows their care for Sinners as early as Chapter One, where they, Hecate, and Hella go on their first mission together to follow up on a lead about Suspect R from SALVA. Since the Chief does not have strong bonds with their Sinners yet, their relationships with the Sinners are weak and especially has a weak bond with Hella since the latter sees the former as an imprisoner. Hella grow to hate the Chief even more when they stop her from attacking an informant named Ted with their shackles, even when the Chief meant to save Hella from Ted's men. Noticing how Ted's men were being rude to Hecate and Hella because they are Sinners, the Chief and Ted went somewhere else to talk about Ted's men's harassment toward Sinners, the former telling the latter to stop his men only to be told that the men can't be controlled like the Chief controls Sinners with their shackles; the conversation itself marks a difference between someone who cares for their people and someone who doesn't. By the time both of them return, the fight between Hella and Ted's men was about to begin and given how Sinners are often blamed for starting trouble, Hella thought that the Chief would side with Ted's men. She is proven wrong when the Chief sides with her after hearing Hecate's unbiased report on how Ted's men started the fight, which prompts the Chief to let Hella clean house. While this alone wasn't enough to change Hella's attitude toward Chief entirely as it would take several more chapters, it was a start to their better relationship as the chapters go on.

Events

  • While exploring the museum during the Witching Hour event, you can meet and find a being named Statue of Truth, who pesters the Sinners with trivia questions while claiming to devour any who fail to answer them truthfully. One of the things you can be asked about is what The Chief values the most. Amongst the options of 50 Million Hypercubes and A Billion DisCoins, what is the correct one? "Sinner Companions".

Interrogations

  • McQueen's flashback at the end of her interrogation shows her as a young artist being rejected by the connoisseurs and moguls of Eastside, just like when we first saw it for the first time... except we are presented with a single art critic who not only silently appreciates her work, but shares her view that the Eastside's art critics should stop looking for names and renown when it comes to artistry and appreciate it for it's beauty and passion the artists put on their work. Who is that art critic? Lisa, the same Sinner who otherwise couldn't stand the presence of McQueen around her and insulted her at every moment when in her presence.
  • While Cabernet's interrogation is filled with horror and sadness due to the pain she inflicted on her "ingredients" that McGrath stole from her, the ending lands on a somewhat good one as Cabernet sees Chief being the only person to understand her, not caring if they dislike her for what she's done. She does oblige the deal she makes with Chief on not eating other souls than theirs and is very doting and loving towards them, albeit a bit unhealthily at moments.
    • Plus, the moments before she ruined Greg and Carly's life showed how peaceful but poor life they had together as a Syndican couple, with Greg cooking his girlfriend her favorite food and Carly trying to find a job for him despite graduating from the same prestigious culinary school as Kelvin because of their Syndican origins.
