Heartwarming / Mafia II

Go To

  • Joe and Vito's friendship is one moment after another.
    • Joe welcomes Vito back home from WW2 with hugs and smiles. Given so many people return from war without a hero's welcome, Joe really makes a strong impression as someone that you would want to be friends with in real life. The fact he then shows Screw the Rules, I Have Connections! and immediately makes sure that Vito doesn't have to return to the Italian front is also a bonus.
    • Joe does this again when he offers to put Vito up so he doesn't have to stay with his already overworked mother and sister in their tiny apartment. The fact Joe's life is nothing but A Party, Also Known as an Orgy, this is actually quite nice of him.
    • Joe does a Not Quite the Right Thing by also vouching for Vito and helping him join The Mafia.
    • Joe is the only person who visits Vito in prison aside from his sister.
    • Joe also buys Vito an apartment so he has somewhere to go after he gets out of prison.
    • The entirety of, "In Loving Memory of Francesco Potenza." Joe and Eddie Scarpa decide to take Vito to the nicest whorehouse in all of Empire Bay in order to make him feel better after his lengthy prison stay. It becomes a Crowning Moment of Heartwarming for Vito because he serves as the designated driver for his friends as well as helps them bury a body.
    • "Vito... Let's shoot this cocksucker on three." It really is in a twisted sort of way. Vito is being held at gunpoint by his best friend and this is the signal that he decided not to betray him after all.
  • Vito has a huge Big Brother Instinct toward his sister that causes him to break the law in part to help pay off the family's debt against a crooked Loan Shark.
    • Unfortunately, his attempt to be a Wife-Basher Basher ends with his sister severing all ties.
  • Vito can fix the broken car of an arguing couple and get the wife's thanks (as well as an achievement).
