- Titine (Emmanuelle Seigner), a prostitute from the brothel little Edith is raised in, becomes a Parental Substitute to her, taking care of her and loving her like a mother would.
- After little Edith removes her eye bandage and reacts to everything, her grandmother, who hasn't been the warmest around her, responds joy that she can see.
- Some of the scenes with Edith and her father are sweet, but the ending, when he manages to buy the doll she saw in the window, is lovely.
- The scene when Edith and Momone (Sylvie Testud) are chatting after busting shame that Edith's Mother enters the Cafe.
- The scene with Marlene Dietrich greeting her after she sang and thanking her for sending her to Paris, marking the start of a great friendship.
