Unmarked Spoilers Below!

Who says leading a death cult in a Crapsack World had to be all doom and gloom?
  • Though it's less efficient than being a villain, you can create a society that's genuinely a good place to live. You could give your followers good food, good shelters, decorated surroundings, feasts, bonfire dances, holidays, gold donations, an afterlife to depart to when they die, honored graves for their corpses to be laid in, and resurrection so they can live again. The only morally questionable act that is required to progress is to wage crusades against the lands of the four bishops, but even that can be justified as lawful combat.
  • Sometimes a follower will walk up to the Lamb just to tell them that they love them. Awww!
    • The bishops are not excluded from this, and are likely to if you've already beaten their exclusive quests. Just a quirk of the engine? Possibly. But it's nice to know they're at least a little grateful that, even after trying their hardest to kill you, you still went out of your way to save them from their Fate Worse than Death.
  • The occasional time that the Bishops invoke Even Evil Has Loved Ones, like Leshy, Kallamar and Heket not wanting to bother Shamura because of their head injury at first or Heket being enraged by the Lamb killing her youngest brother Leshy. They might be a quartet of horrifying eldritch beasts, as well as the leaders of an evil Old Faith, but they do care about each other.
    • Once transformed into followers, Narinder specifically makes remarks about the Bishops, showing that despite the horrible rift between them, he cares for them still. He acknowledges Leshy's strength despite being the youngest, admires Heket's ruthlessness, shows a bit of pity for Kalamar who is always scared and quietly wonders if Shamura cried when you confronted them.
  • Ratau and the Lamb's relationship is one of genuine respect and trust. Ratau teaches the Lamb the basics of building their cult, not in the slightest bit begrudging that the Lamb succeeded him as their god's vessel. The Lamb in turn seems to care a lot for Ratau, to the point that they shed tears and try to save him if the player sacrifices Ratau to the Red Fox.
    • Fridge heartwarming: Though the unfinished letter in Ratau's cabin can only be read if you've sacrificed him and is a Tear Jerker in that context, and the Doylist reason for its existence is to twist the knife, it's not like it doesn't still exist; the in-universe reason you can't read it when he's still alive is because he isn't satisfied with the current draft. Regardless of whether you can read the message in your save file, the sentiments expressed are a constant in how he feels about the Lamb, and knowing about this is what firmly steeled some players against betraying him.
I have tried many times to write this letter to you, only to find myself unable to express what I wish to say. Likely I will scrap this as well and toss it on the growing pile of failed attempts. But still I try. Whilst teaching you, I have begun to think of you as... well, I hope you could think of me as... You are already better than I ever was. I know you will not make the same mistakes I did. I am proud of you. Your dear friend and mentor, Ratau.
  • After taking him as a follower, one of Narinder's unique quests to revive a follower if you have the resurrection doctrine has him rather bemused, but seemingly genuinely happy, that the Lamb is using their newfound godly powers for benevolent ends. His commentary implies that trying to fight his role of God of Death in a similar way is why he was locked away, so seeing the Lamb get away with it makes him genuinely happy.
  • The initial release of the game forced the player to kill Forneus' children Baal and Aym as part of the True Final Boss, depriving her of any chance to see them again, though at least she wasn't aware they still lived in the first place. As of the Relics of the Old Faith update however, it is possible to finally reunite Forneus with both of her children in the new post-game content. Forneus herself is overjoyed, while Baal and Aym immediately hug their mother and cry Tears of Joy.
    • Recruiting Shamura as a follower reveals that they were the one to sacrifice Aym and Baal, as a way of giving their brother company. Even after everything that happened between them, Shamura still loved their brother. Aww, in a messed up sort of way.
  • In Relics of the Old Faith, you can have another meeting with Klunko and Bop in a random encounter. In this conversation, Klunko reveals that he was one of the followers in Ratau's old cult, saying that Ratau took him in when he had nowhere else to go. He fondly remembers Ratau as a good leader, and says the same of you too. Of course, these conversations take on an entirely different tone if you sacrificed Ratau to the Red Fox.
  • In the short Leshy's Kitchen Nightmare, Leshy is cooking a steak when he gets distracted by a butterfly which causes the steak to burn. Because of this, one of the followers he was cooking for yells at him before angrily storming away. Seeing how down he was after being yelled at, another follower gives Leshy a flower which seems to cheer him up. It should also be noted that when he receives the flower, the symbol on his blindfold gets replaced with a heart.
  • In it's own twisted way, Helob assuming that you're a predator just like him lends itself to some heartwarming moments, as he treats you more like birds of a feather than potential prey. On rare occasion, he'll even offer you a follower for free, since "you look hungerful."
  • You can pet dog followers. Not only is this practical as it grants a small loyalty boost, but they'll bend down for it and giggle adorably.
  • Followers will occasionally ask you to find their sibling or best friend, who they got separated from before joining. They'll rejoice upon reuniting with them.
  • Many players felt sorry for Sozo and wished they could save him from his miserable fate. As of the Sins of the Flesh update, this is now sort of possible, as the Lamb can cause Sozo to reincarnate as a follower from the mushroom that had grown through his hat.
    • It's even possible to revert Sozo back to who he was before the mushrooms: researcher Dr Sozonius. Sozonius doesn't remember his time as Sozo, but he knows that he's grateful to the Lamb for something. He's automatically elderly, but at the very least, Dr Sozonius can live out his last days as himself. Alternatively, you can give him an egg dish to restore his youth or resurrect him after he passes away, both options giving him a second chance at life.
  • Sins of the Flesh allows you to make your most loyal Followers into Disciples. The first Disciple you create repsonds with an outpouring of gratitude:
Disciple: Blessed Lamb, I am honoured to be your first Disciple. It means the world to me to be a part of your Inner Circle, to be close to your glory! You see... It must seem silly to you, but for simple creatures like us, it's hard to find a place to call home. Before I came here, I was always scared. I had no friends or family. All I could do was hide. But then you found me, and now... well, I couldn't be happier! I will be your loyal Disciple always.
  • After successful mating, whichever cultist holds the egg usually behaves extremely happy and fond of it. Even though they give it in your care immediately, they are clearly happy about it existing.
    • Extended even further if the egg is placed into a nest. While not counting towards caring for the egg, cultists can interact with the egg by going towards it to caress and kiss it fondly.
