Heartwarming / Brother Bear 2

Go To

  • In general, there's Kenai, Koda, Rutt, Tuke, and Nita's amiable interactions throughout the movie. In the original film, the bear bros were almost killed by someone or something roughly every ten minutes, and the bombshell that Kenai hunted Koda's mother was hanging over their heads, waiting to drop the whole time. In the Lighter and Softer sequel, the terror and the angst is present, but it doesn't really start to ramp up until the last act, so the five main characters get to just be close friends on a road trip far more often.
  • Right after Nita meets Koda, she immediately gets along with the little bear cub, they even joke about Kenai in a playful manner a couple of times. Even when she has to go back to her home after she burns the amulet, she says Koda is a such sweet little cub.
  • It's easy to miss, since the moose brothers are only recurring characters in the films, but there's also Rutt and Tuke's relationship with Koda. Like Kenai, they develop a soft spot for a bear cub that's not a member of their species. In a deleted scene for the first film, they take Koda's side during an argument with Kenai, and in this film, despite being well established as lovable cowards, they quickly accompany Kenai on a rescue mission to save 'smallish bear' from a village of human hunters.
  • When they were children Kenai rescued Nita from drowning, out of love he gives her an amulet to remember him by, Nita is so touched by this that she paints a picture of the two saying they will be best friends. It's no wonder Kenai is pissed that when they reunite as adults that Nita calls the amulet a silly little trinket since it obviously meant a lot for him when he gave it to her in the first place as a parting gift. The childhood memory is still one of the best if not heartwarming scenes we're shown in the second film.
  • Kenai earnestly helping Nita conquer her aquaphobia in the river. Once he understands how long her traumatic childhood memory has been haunting her, he's very patient with her and he shows her plenty of empathy as he helps her face up to her fears. He's come a long way from the short-sighted teen that he was at the start of the original film.
  • After Nita saves Koda from a snow avalanche, Kenai finds both of them and expresses relief at Koda being safe.
  • Even though Koda is afraid of losing Kenai due to the latter's romance with Nita, Kenai reassures him that he will never leave Koda. He is his adopted brother after all. And the two bears embrace in a hug. It's such heartwarming moment, especially considering the fact that Kenai is all Koda has left now.
  • Right after Kenai is injured due to his fight with Atka, Nita immediately rushes to side along with Koda even though she can't understand him anymore, he places her hand to his chest and they declare their love for each other. Nita hugs him. It's such a heartwarming moment.
  • Once she makes the decision to join Kenai and Koda in the animal kingdom, Nita's transformation into a bear is both incredibly heartwarming and a Moment of Awesome.
  • At the end of the film, Kenai and Nita officially become mates and are even married, with many of their friends and family members (from Nita's village and the bears' forest community) attending their wedding.
