Headscratchers / Star Trek The Next Generation S 7 E 3 Interface

  • They have a holodeck, capable of providing fully immersive sensory feedback, and real time monitoring of everything the user does. Why do they need a dangerous VR suit, which needs to be precisely calibrated to each user, in order to control the probe?
    • There's also a bit of zeerust cropping up. With modern drone technology as good as it's become since the episode's release, you'd think people would have perfected a remote control drone capable of operating computers and lifting metal bars long before inventing warp drives or teleporters.
  • It's well established that Geordi's vision through the VISOR looks nothing like human sight. By contrast, when we see through Geordi's eyes in the interface, it looks like a normal camera view. But Geordi never treats his vision in the interface as anything different from what he's accustomed to from the VISOR. The only other time he's experienced normal vision was in "Hide and Q," and he treats looking at Tasha with human eyes like he's seeing her for the first time. In the interface, he's also still able to see the molecular compositions of things even though that data doesn't seem present in his POV shots.
