• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Considering a) how little we'd gotten about Geordi's background up to this point, and b) how few female black characters there were on TNG or Star Trek in general, it seems a shame to arbitrarily kill off Geordi's mother no sooner than she'd been introduced.
  • Not to mention that they get a lauded actor like Ben Vereen to play Geordi's father, and we only see him for a brief video call. We never even see him share the same scene with Levar Burton!
