• What is with Melissa's hang ups with a date auction? Those go on in modern society too.
  • Even the modern ones are not any less about objectification in concept, albeit at least with more gender equality and self-awareness, and are at least more casual than the weight assigned to it by the town. Note also that her emotions are heightened because of the recent breakup.
• Why does the leprachaun exist at the same time as Titus Burgess's character if they both serve the same function?
  • The narrator replaces the chorus of townspeople in season 1, constantly hounding Josh and Melissa and forcing them to react as they did. The expository greek chorus of townspeople is a lot more common in Golden Age musicals, whereas 1960's musicals liked to experiment with narrators and fourth wall breaking. The leprachaun also explains that the narrator works for him, implying he prefers to cast setting-appropriate people to do most of the work.
• Was Schmigadoon set in Scotland like the movie?
• How did Melissa and Josh find Schmigadoon again in Series 2? Weren't they completely lost for hours the last time they reached Schmigadoon?
  • They did not find Schmigadoon in s2. They wandered, gave up, and stumbled into Schmicago on the way home.
