  • I know hardly anything about casinos. Is what the brothers did with the money at the casino plausible? Them getting chips, and then, returning the chips for a check?
    • Yes, very much so. Almost every casino will provide checks for chip trade-ins. Given how much money a person can win in a casino and the risks of carrying that much money around in cash, it's a logical business decision.
    • You probably meant sitting around with the chips by the bar. So let me ask you this: what the casino is supposed to do? Force you to play? You might be just making up your mind if you really want to be gambling. Also, first time around, the brothers split up once inside, with Tanner playing poker (and doubling their chips in the process), so there really was nothing suspicious about them.
    • The process was using the casino for a low-key money laundering. They were only bringing in a few thousand dollars at a time, Tanner takes a stack of chips to gamble with and make it seem more plausible when they return with roughly the same amount. While Toby is sitting by himself with a large stack of chips, it's assumed to be an hour or more later that they go cash it in. An immediate turnaround probably would be suspicious.
