Maria, Maria, Maria!

  • If Maria is fine with Manny fighting crime, why can't she take Rodolfo back?
    • I assume one of four things: 1) Her feelings for him may have just faded with time. 2) Being Rodolfo's wife was too stressful and despite her openness to Manny's heroism she just doesn't want to live like that anymore (meaning, living in constant fear and worry over her loved ones getting pummeled by supervillians ). 3) She doesn't see Manny fight crime on the daily basis like she did Rodolfo so her anxiety attacks aren't triggered as much. 4) She's (unintentionally I'm sure) a hypocrite. *shrugs* I haven't seen Maria's debut episode in a while so my memory's a little fuzzy.
      • She was a superhero (Plata Peligrosa) at one point, before Manny was born, but kinda became an adrenaline junkie and went overboard. From what we can see, Manny seems to have a lot more self-control. She moved away because she couldn't stand to see her loved ones hurt while she tried to repress her own violent tendencies.
    • Maria loves Manny and Rudolfo so she won't stand against their passion. However she requires a degree of separation from their activities for her own comfort and peace of mind. Living with Rudolfo and being fully in a relationship knowing that every day he goes out to fight crime he may not come back is not something she can tolerate, living apart and keeping him at a friendly arms length allows her enough space to deal with the possibility.

  • While we're on the subject of Maria, when she divorced Rodolfo, why didn't she try to take Manny with her? After all, it was his dangerous double life as a superhero that led her to leave him in the first place. Wouldn't the safety of her then-rather young son bother her just as much as seeing her husband in danger constantly?
    • To keep him from being a superhero would have meant permanently serpentining him from the belt. Basically saying to him that he can't do anything fun. Like the ultimate version of the No fun parent. Since she was fine with him fighting crime, it would be easier to let him stay with his father and be trained so he doesn't, say, accidentally kill himself in a heroic battle by, say, clawing his own head off. Or MST3K Mantra
    • I always sort of saw it mainly as Maria not wanting to hurt Rodolfo anymore than she already had by the initial break-up/divorce (seriously, imagine Rodolfo, being the extremely sensitive guy as he is, losing both the love of his life AND his son while under the impression that it was his fault…). But then, it also could have been possible that she simply acknowledged that Manny was pretty much bounded to a similar fate due to his status as a Rivera and did not want to take that right away from him.
      • Also, Maria wanted to make a new life for herself afterword as a traveling mariachi artist…pretty sure it would not have been simple raising a child on her own AND pursuing said career/other hobbies at the same time…
    • It's mentioned that Manny didn't get his El Tigre belt until Maria went on tour, to the point that one concern was how she'd react to finding out he was El Tigre. Maybe Maria left Manny with Rodolfo hoping that the responsibility of being a parent would reign him in. The reason she probably doesn't try to stop Manny at this point is because she realized from Rodolfo that you can't force a person, or at least a Rivera, to give up their hero/villain calling, so better to let Manny embrace it and try to better him as such rather than smother it and make him resentful/rebellious. Later interactions with Rodolfo and the family show she is definitely trying to steer Manny towards Hero.

The Aves and their nest of Grudges

  • The reason why Zoey Aves and her family's evil is rather......implausible. I mean, the only reason Zoey's family is evil is because it just happens to run in the family. I've noticed that most villains are that way due to a cruel past, not "family business." Being a hero or villain is based on how you see the world, it isn't like a job like running a family restaurant. Besides, why is Zoey all "Vendetta!" when she's the who caused all this crap for Frida in preschool?
    • In regards to that last part, see Never My Fault.
      • Or, this might answer it (in regards to the Never My Fault). Supposedly, Manny and Zoe met way back in preschool and became best friends. About a year or so later, Manny met Frida in detention and befriended her, eventually leading to him abandoning Zoe (or the two girls forced him to choose one...I don't know what happened and only Jorge knows the details) and causing the rivalry between the girls. If this really is true, then it raises questions as into why Zoe's mom did not know of this and try to keep her daughter away from Manny.
      • Maybe Voltura did know and didn't do anything in order to ensure her daughter would have a Start of Darkness and become a villain? If so...then dang.
    • They ARE Mexican.....American......maybe.......The culture is supposed to be big on family, essentially yes IT DOES RUN IN THE FAMILY, it's practically a family business the Rivera are the odd ducks of the community....as it seems to be evil and good skip a generation except for El Tigres apparently......it's obviously put a strain on their relationships as well.
    • A lot of the villains in this show come from villainous families. Regardless having a cruel past or not they're still evil because they were raised that way. Think about it; you're raised with your parents beliefs and teachings. If you're being raised by your parents into being a crazy super villain, chances are you're going to do it. The Aves family seems to handle heartbreak extremely poorly, it's as common in their family as the villainous outlook. Whether they were raised with that mindset or it's in their genes, they have these things in common.
      • Evil Is Petty, though, Pachita's (Grandmami Aves) grudge might be a little justified, as getting played will definitely leave a mark on the soul. To explain Carmelita, her grudge probably was only for Manny's father but she extended it to Manny after what happened in kindergarten with him and Zoe. As far as Zoe herself goes, from what I've read out of it, Zoe felt like Manny picked Frida over her and, whether he did or didn't, she definitely didn't help her case.

Manny's hand

  • So is Manny's hand real or fake, cause when El Tigre uses his hook there's a chain attach to his "hand"
    • I'm pretty sure that his hand is real, but maybe it becomes mechanical when he transforms into El Tigre? It looks like his costume gives him some slight physical changes, like the functioning cat ears and tail. His hands could change with the transformation as well.
    • Though, another question with this could be whether or not Manny's real hand responded when he had to cut it off once, not to mention how he was able to get a hold of a spare.
    • Perhaps this had happened before... thus explaining the spare hand?

Manny and Frida

  • Manny's friendship with Frida Suarez doesn't make much sense. She seems like a little monster with few redeeming qualities. Manny practically has to force her to feel guilty about their shady exploits. I wouldn't have a problem with her character, except that Manny has to act out of character in order to keep her as a friend, and it goes against some of the show's themes. He calls a giant BS when his mom tries to make friends with the supervillains, and he seems drawn to noble people. For a show that's all about good, evil, and Manny doing the thing, Frida's questionable morals are never called out on.
    • One of Manny's biggest character flaws is that he doesn't stand up for himself: look at the first episode with Sergio. He accidentally insults him, but rather than apologize, he starts uneasily laughing with everyone else. He's really too anxious about what people think of him.
    • Manny is often tempted by the excitement of being a supervillain. And Frida, with her Chaotic Neutral personality, provides him with an excuse to act that way. That said, however, there have been plenty of times where Frida has shown that she cares about Manny.
    • While there seems to be not much of a question that Frida likes Manny, what bugs me is how she encourages him to do wrong, and actually didn't care that he could have taken over the world and enslaved the human race. Hell, in the alternate ending she even ruled with him!
    • Ah, don't go thinking that Manny is a little angel either; though he may have a bit more of a conscious and a sense of concern than Frida he still has been known to have his nasty moments without her influence, one prime example being when he tricked Black Cuervo into thinking he genuinely liked her when he was really just stealing information on her family's plans. Even Frida was shocked that Manny would do that...until she bowed down to him for his cruelty!
    • In "Stinking Badges", it is shown that Frida does have SOME standards when it comes to underhandedness, trickery and deceit, particularly pertaining to her father Police Chief Suarez. It's one of the few times in the show she honestly feels guilty about using/deceiving someone to get ahead or look better than others. It's ironic, though, because it was in fact Manny's idea to give Frida credit for his supervillain captures.
    • Evidence suggests that children raised by over protective/smothering parents are more prone to seeking out whatever trouble they are being sheltered from. Manny has to know about his family history, but odds are Rodolfo kept him very sheltered from Papi's supervillain endeavors and tried to rear him primarily as a hero. That curiosity for bad led him to get acquainted with Frida, who is by no means a model citizen but is also at least moral enough that Rodolfo wouldn't bar them from interacting. Chief Suarez's similar distaste for Manny makes a similar explanation plausible for Frida, and even gives a potential factor as to why the Rivera line keeps switching between heroes and villains every generation.

Tigers in Mesoamerica?

  • the thing that confuses me is that if the original El Tigre is the oldest Rivera and Dark Leopard ( who I assume is his son) was alive in the aztec /mesoamerican period, then what era does the original El Tigre represent? his costume compared to his first two decedents (Dark Leopard and Golden Leon) looks very modern ( if we were to assume that he was he was in mesoamerica and did not migrate from another part of the world where his costume would make more sense ).
    • Jaguar, maybe?

Sergio's parents

  • This isn't much of a headscratcter as it is something that I've been wondering about: Where exactly are Sergio's parents? Last time I checked he moved to Miracle City from somewhere and lives in that farm-like house presumably alone...
    • Given the information released for the Cactus Kid and the Golden Eagle Twins, he might be an orphan.

Where are the other superheroes?

  • When the Rivera's had to give up their power items, the entire city just turned into more of a complete and utter wreck than it already was. My question is where in the world were all of the other superheroes at? The only other time that Miracle City got that bad was when they and White Pantera were trapped at their ceremony, so were every single one of them just too weak to be able to fight crime without White Pantera (and El Tigre... when he's feeling heroic) around, even with a combined effort?
    • While still a headscratcher in nature, this one is justified given this episode had to wrap everything up since the series was cancelled before having a proper conclusion.

Titanium Titan's motives (or lacks thereof)

  • So, here's a question regarding the Titanium Titan; if he's so angry with Manny for "stealing away Rodolfo" that he's willing to murder the kid (even AFTER he managed to become fighting partners with Rodolfo again), does this feeling also extend to Maria? He never made any actions or comments about her, but given she's the primary reason for Rodolfo abandoning him it would make more sense than just Manny.
    • Either they didn't want the implications to be that obvious or the Titan simply has a reason not to go after her (maybe Even Evil Has Standards or something else).
    • Another interpretation is that Manny was the main out of place piece in the Titan's plan. Going with the implication of the Titan having a romantic attachment to Rodolfo, he probably just assumed he could "win him back" normally, but not so much win Rodolfo's priority over Manny as his son. The backstory also mentions that while Rodolfo's relationship with Maria was the start of the duo losing steam, Manny's birth is what finally convinced Rodolfo he couldn't stick with the team up, so the Titan may simply have a more irrational hatred of Manny as the final straw.'

Dude needs better pants

  • Why doesn't Manny just buy a pair of smaller size jeans so they don't fall down every time he takes off his El Tigre belt?
    • Three words: Rule of Funny.
      • There have been times where Manny's pants stayed up without the belt, in fact they even have a tie when he bothers to use it.

Outing Cuervo

  • Since Frida now knows Zoe Aves secret identity, does she knows that Zoe has a crush on Manny while she is Black Cuervo?
    • Considering that Zoe was able to trick everyone into thinking that she and Black Cuervo were separate beings (with help from her grandma), it's safe to say that Frida might be once again none the wiser.

Did Zoe See?

  • Since Frida kissed Manny in the series finale, did Zoe see Frida kiss Manny?
    • Given that Zoe was caught up in the Riveras' final super punch to every villain, she could have been unconscious or too injured at the time to have really noticed. Though, it's not impossible...

Emiliano and everything about Emiliano

  • In the evil ending of "The Good, The Bad, and El Tigre" Manny decided to have Frida rule beside him, but earlier it was shown that Manny captured Emiliano Suarez during the takeover. Would Frida really be completely cool with Manny having her father (and perhaps even her whole family) imprisoned, even with the police chief's near-horrific treatment of Manny considered?

  • Speaking of Emiliano, if he's willing to go so bombastic on Manny for putting Frida in danger, why hasn't he done anything regarding Zoe who has been viciously bullying his daughter ever since kindergarten and has even gotten her badly hurt on several occasions? Just doesn't line up with the Papa Wolf characterization.
    • Since they were in preschool, it could be reckoned that Emiliano probably considered Zoe's bullying harmless (because preschoolers are anuses to each other at times), wanted her to toughen up (he did put Anita and Nikita through the Training from Hell), or he just didn't know.

So, being barefoot in school is safer then wearing high heels?

  • In the episode "El Tigre, El Jefe", Manny is "helping people" by making them stop doing things they like and doing things they don't want to do. One of the things he does is tell a girl to take off her high heels because they cause "fallen arches", but he never gives her any alternative footwear. So what? Is she expected to walk around school barefoot? Wouldn't she risk injuring her feet, like if she stepped of something? I get the joke is that Manny's help is unwanted, but he's not so much making life more dangerous, so much as making it more miserable and boring.
