Gold Digger / ATTACK on MIKA

Go To

  • Ririna/Lilina is often depicted as one in several episodes, usually involving Ichi as her boyfriend:
    • "My ex dissed my girlfriend as a 'gold digger', but...": Lilina dumps Ichi once he makes it clear he isn't becoming a CEO. Three years later, she invites Ichi to her wedding to Narikin Goods' CEO. When he attends the event with his new girlfriend, Mika, Lilina accuses her of being a gold digger. However, when the Narikin CEO seemingly reveals that Ichi is the CEO of Shingeki Concierge International and one of his clients, she does a 180° and kisses up to Ichi until he tells her that Mika is the CEO. As a result, the man calls off the engagement and her parents abandon her. What's more, no one would flock to her because of the scandal.
    • "I was about to propose, but she showed up with her new wealthy boyfriend...": Lilina shows up at the park where she is to meet up with Ichi for their date and reveals that she is dating successful businessman Taizou, right when he is about to propose to her. She tells him that Taizou is her new boyfriend, then breaks up with him and even stomps on the wedding ring he worked so hard for because it doesn't have a jewel. Years later, when he is about to marry Mika, she shows up looking haggard because Taizou failed in his business and got up to his neck in debt, then forced her to take part of said debt, only to run away.
    • "She broke up with me because my house was old and run down...": She doesn't like that her boyfriend, Ichi, is feeding the homeless and sprays perfume all over him whenever he goes on dates with her. When he takes her to his parents' house when she forces him to, she accuses him of lying to her, even though he always told her that he is poor, sprays her entire perfume bottle at him, and walks off. The next day, she starts to spread rumors about him. Years later, when Lilina brags to both him and Mika that she's marrying a rich man named Okamoto, it's revealed he and Ichi knew each other when the former was homeless. When Lilina mocks Ichi for starting a company that helps the poor, Okamoto threatens to call off the wedding and Mika exposes Lilina's true colors, including the fact that Lilina herself is from a poor family and that she would always wear tons of perfume to hide the scent of mold, to everyone, causing her to run away crying. Afterwards, Okamoto calls off the wedding and breaks up with her.
    • "My wife divorced me while I was away on business... 3 years later...": She cheated on her husband, Ichi, while he was on his business trips. When he finally got the opportunity to not have to go on business trips for anything, Ririna dumps him in favor of Taizou and divorces him, causing him to resign and become a shut-in. However, Ichi decides to write a blog about his life stories and spins them into funny stories. A while later, Ichi is offered to have his blog published into a book under the pen name of "Zero," which is then adapted into a film three years later. At the movie's premiere, Ichi runs into Lilina and Taizo, who proceed to mock him for still being single and miserable. However, they are instead shocked and, in Lilina's case, angered when Ichi reveals that not only is he "Zero" and he became successful after they betrayed him, but he is also dating the actress Mika Shingeki. Six months later, Lilina begs for help at Ichi and Mika's apartment, revealing that Taizou's stocks tanked and he pinned all his debts on her before running away. When she tells Ichi that he should help her since she was the reason his blog became successful, Mika jokingly suggests that she tell everyone that she was the model for the villain who left her husband, saying that no one will feel any sympathy for her. Ichi then calls security when Lilina refuses to leave.
    • "She dumped me for my car but we ran into each other a few years later...": Ririna only dated Ichi for his good grades and, therefore, his potential to make money. She dumped Ichi for working at a small factory and driving an old car, which drove him to work hard to forget about her. A few years after he started his own company, Ririna shows up and gloats to him that she's engaged to Hideo, who owns a chain of restaurants. However, when Ichi reveals that he is a rich CEO, she dumps Hideo and tries to get back with him, but he refuses and reveals he is already engaged to his secretary, Mika, instead. Since then, Ririna tries to hook up with rich men, but they turn her down because she is in her thirties, while the only ones who did give her the time of day were ten years older than her.
    • '"There are no survivors" The plane that my girlfriend was on crashed...!?': She dated Ichi for working at a big company and lied to Ichi about going on a company vacation to Thailand to cover up her affair with an American man named Michael on the Indonesian island of Bali. When Mika revealed the truth to Ichi, he gathered both his parents and in-laws to confront her about her affair. When Ririna admitted to her cheating, she even justified it because the man wasn't as "stingy" as Ichi. As a result, he calls off the engagement and forces her to pay compensation. While Ririna shrugged it off because of Michael's riches, the man calls her to announce his company went under and broke up with her when she refused to give him money. Ririna tries to get back with Ichi after realizing he was a scammer, but he has none of it and goes through with his lawsuit, driving her to work a night job to pay the debt.
    • "I came home a day early from my business trip to surprise my wife, but she told me not to come home": Ririna married Ichi for his money, using it to buy herself designer-brand stuff and even going as far as selling his car models away to feed her habit. While Ichi tolerates her behavior because of her kind demeanor, he soon finds out it was an act when he wakes up to Ririna and Hideo going on a joyride without noticing he was in the backseat. After he leaves the lovebirds behind in response to them thrashing his car in their adventure, Ririna threatens divorce and gloats he'll give her compensation. Much to her dismay, Ichi reveals the car was a vintage worth a million dollars while Hideo reveals he lied about being a company top dog to cover up that he's a NEET. Ririna tries to get back with Ichi only for him to kick her out of his house and sue her.

  • Aira/Aila is also depicted as a gold digger and can be more malicious than Ririna/Lilina in trying to get what she wants.
    • My new girlfriend keeps making me buy her expensive things and... Aira only dated Hideo for his money, and kept demanding that he buy gifts for her. When Hideo realized that he was running out of money, he decided to get a job at a bar. • "My ex-girlfriend didn't know that she was about to marry a...": Aila breaks up with Ichi since he barely makes enough money to satisfy her. A few years later, she runs into Ichi again at an expensive restaurant where is celebrating his adopted daughter, Mika's, birthday and introduces her fiancee, Gorgeous, who is the number one host in town. She then proceeds to mock Ichi for still being poor, accuses him of only adopting Mika so that she can take of him when he gets older, and claims that he only cares about work. Even after learning that Ichi will be promoted for all of his hard work, she still makes fun of him. However, after learning that Gorgeous is the leader of a notorious gang called the Gekishin Gang, she tries to call off the marriage and get back with Ichi, only for Mika to remind her that she promised to marry Gorgeous. Gorgeous' father then arrives and warns her about what will happen to her if she calls off the marriage, forcing her to agree to the marriage.
    • "She dumped me because I couldn't afford a ring when I proposed to her... 5 Years later...": Aila dumped Kazuma because he wasn't able to buy her an expensive ring and ripped up his love letter. However, he refused, since he has moved on with his new girlfriend Konomi Kanemochi. Furthermore, it was revealed that Ichi and Konomi were the actors who starred in the movie based on the novel that Kazuma wrote.
