• The Hand Wave of the "James R. Kirk" grave from "Where No Man Has Gone Before" is simple, but side-splitting.
  Kirk: Even with all his power, Gary was still susceptible to human frailty. Hell... He couldn't even remember my middle name.
• In "What Ships Are For," one of the aliens sees Spock's pointed ears and asks "are you a human female?" Bones can barely keep from bursting out laughing.
• In the finale, Kirk gives his big speech about the Enterprise's mission boldly going on, and the assembled crew's reaction is a very unimpressed "mutter shrug whatever".
