Funny / Pokémon Rejuvenation

Go To

While Rejuvenation can be incredibly dark and serious very often, there are more than a few moments that just make you snort.

  • Melia tossing a Team Xen Grunt off-screen when he tries to kidnap her. The other Grunt's flabbergasted response is to scream 'What the hell do you eat for breakfast?'
  • Everything involving SEC. Especially its face. And its dynamite. And how Aelita gets more and more annoyed as she sees SEC again and again.
    "Just blow yourself up already!"
  • Emma Aka the disguised Melia, after first showing up at Blacksteeple Castle, sneaks out of the Prestige Room at night to investigate, leaving her Zoroark in her place, disguised as her... and as it turns out, to Neved's disgust/disturbance, Zoroark's got Jabba Table Manners. He decides to come back in the morning.
  • The unexpected Pangoro who shows up to save the player in Goldenleaf Town, especially the villagers' reactions to it.
  • When Team Xen puts a bounty on the heads of the player and their friends on Terajuma Island, the picture they use to represent Valarie is inexplicably a Lapras. Valarie is not amused.
“Now hold on a second! Why was I a Lapras?!”
  • Talking to the Gurdurr as part of a sidequest in Terajuma Jungle inexplicably leads to a therapy session between the player and the Gurdurr, ending with the player diagnosing Gurdurr with sadness.
  • Eli trying to jump to a ledge on the way to Valor Mountain. He utterly fails to cross the small gap, and when Sharon goes in after him, she runs (well, swims) headfirst into another ledge.
  • Madelis kidnaps Amber and offers to swap her and Nim for Melia. Melia then asks why Madelis didn't just kidnap her instead. Madelis has no answer.
  • Melia's disastrous attempts to pilot a yacht.
  • Madelis attempts to explain the wound she got from Madame X's sword to Isha by saying 'I fell on a knife'.
  • Whilst the Doomed Timeline is anything but funny most of the time, being almost totally Played for Drama, when Madame X tries to pull a Why Don't You Just Shoot Him? on the Princess in one of the earlier versions of the game... she's dropped through a Trap Door. The thought of the Invincible Villain Smug Super Big Bad "falling" for the oldest trick in the book is just priceless.
    • Slightly earlier in the timeline, Mosely complains that everyone is being sexist by insisting that she remain behind. Madame X points out that she is also female, and Mosely seems genuinely amazed that someone who calls themself 'Madame X' would be a woman.
  • After Gardevoir flees in Past Sheridan, Aelita yells at Mimikyu that they didn't need its help. Mimikyu responds by attempting to curse her... to which Aelita points out that she already is cursed.
  • When Ren asks Reina if she's scared during Chapter 13, she answers by saying that she’s not because she doesn’t understand the scope of the threat. He then compares it to when their uncle Leo didn’t get cake and medicine in their aunt Lisa’s wedding. This finally makes her scared.
Holy shit my heart just dropped. It's literally in my ass right now.
    • In Chapter 13, Reina tells Ren that he has to go now or there'll be more trouble, along the lines of their aunt Rina not being able to find her meds and threatening to punch everyone in the house. She then asks if he remembers their aunt's 57th birthday party, at which point Ren runs off saying they have to go right now.
  • Erin, still mad that someone entered her into the Grand Dream City tournament without her knowledge or consent, throws her match by walking into the arena, pretending she forgot her Pokémon, and just accepting her disqualification before anyone can object.
  • Lavender runs into Braixen while they're both imprisoned in the Hospital of Hope. The device that lets Braixen speak has been stolen, so all of Braixen's attempts to communicate (in prolonged Pokémon Speak and gesturing) are darkly hilarious, given the circumstances.
  • Ren, after escaping the underground base that you fight Gardevoir in - acts like you'd expect an older brother would to his little sister after getting an android body.
But in return I'm totally gonna gloat with my cool android wings that I have and you don't! Nymiera said there was something at her house. Have fun walking there!
    (Flies away)
Reina: YOU CAN BE SUCH A JERK, REN! AT LEAST TAKE ME FOR A JOY RIDE IN THE SKY!
  • There's a mini-quest with a Team Xen Grunt who's in love with a mysterious woman who asks him to fetch her Sweet Hearts. The woman in question, once she turns around, turns out to be a Jynx who was simply repeating lines from a romance movie, and actually throws the Grunt into the ocean. Once he climbs out, he's deeply humiliated.
  • Risa Raider's one Pokémon turns out to be a level 99 Jigglypuff with an illegal moveset called Tuff-Puff that hits like a truck. But it’s less funny when it’s revealed that it isn’t actually a Jigglypuff.
  • The Goomink sidequest is one massive shout out to The Legend of Zelda... with Goomy playing all the major parts. Complete with costumes.
  • Alexandra is just having a good time, dancing in her room cheerfully, in dancing clothes... and you, Ren, Huey, and Reina all warp in thanks to the Timesplicer Crystal right behind her.
Alexandra: ...there's someone right behind me, isn't there.
    Huey: Um... no...
    Ren: Huey...
Alexandra: ............E-exercising is essential for a healthy body! But please forget what you've witnessed today...
(An earthquake hits - despite being on one toe, Alexandra remains upright.)
    Reina: Damn, girl! Nice balance!
  • During the side quest with the Inkay and Malamar stealing Miltank, the Malamar kidnaps Ben and demands that you ransom him back with money, your credit card details, your social security number, your birth certificate and your parents' birth certificates. It turns out the Malamar is just Dr. Jenkel in a really good Malamar costume. Ben is not amused.
  • During the Zone Zero arc, when Ren helps Aelita cross a gap, a bunch of Dugtrio show up to give her scores for the landing.
  • The battle against Saki for her badge at one point has her rapidly cycle through several different Field Effects, being unable to pick one, until Amber yells at her from the sidelines to knock it off.
  • The Renegade arc is by definition the opposite of funny, but M2's 'Guilty or Nah' game show crosses so many lines that it's hard not to laugh.
    • At one point, a bunch of gangsters are after M2, but so are a bunch of Girl Scouts who straight up want to shank her after she stole their cookies.
    • One of M2's alternative counterparts is a Feebas of all things wearing Melia's hair. A Death Seeker Feebas to be precise.
  • During Aelita's part of the School of Nightmares, the group finds Lavender's Nightmare Door, but it leads to an empty, fake rocket. Huey tries to Imagine it into a real rocket, which leads to a Star Trek style room full of worker Hueys who address Aelita as 'Commander'.
  • In the Paragon route, one of the "wonders" Talon asks you and Ren to investigate is a tea on the secret menu of Mika's Cafe. When you both taste the tea, it turns out to be the infamously vile brew of a Sinistea, which you then have to battle. Ren is not best pleased, to say the least.
