- The opening text when starting a new game, carried over from the first game has a warning to the players: "Outlast 2 contains intense violence, gore, graphic sexual content, and strong language. Please enjoy." The fact that they want us to enjoy all four of those things just Crosses the Line Twice.
- And immediately after is something new: a difficulty menu that presents the following options:
Story Mode: I'm just here for the ride.Normal: No walk in the park.Hard: I enjoy dying.Nightmare: I deserve to be punished.Insane: Life simulator. - Blake is a great successor to Miles's First Person Snarker nature, no longer limited to the Heroic Mime medium, so his dialogue is littered with sarcastic one-liners like Ethan from Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.
- Especially the severity of his situation. "Oh fuck! I'm back into fourth grade. And here I thought this couldn't get any worse."
- Laird's insane Flowery Insults. "YOU HALF-WIT DOG'S CUNT!"
